Mary Jane Shoes

These shoes are found in Baby Doll outfits, and also in gothic Lolita outfits on the streets of Japan. I really like Japanese subcultures, Gothic and Gothic Lolitas, so I wanted to take a closer look at the items from their dressing room.

And besides, Mary Jane shoes bring us back to childhood!

The shoes that feature the instep strap are the Mary Jane model. Initially, they were without a heel or on a small flat heel, the strap was fastened with a buckle or a button - everything depended on the designer's imagination. Yes, indeed, this model resembles something dear and distant - in such shoes our mothers and grandmothers look at us from old photographs.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the "Mary Jane" model was exactly that, if we add that the toe of this shoe was slightly rounded. Although some women of fashion could afford another version of the same "Mary Jane", in which there was a heel, but of medium height, and very stable. So Mary Jane shoes were almost always with us. And now we wear them - either childishly naive shoes or luxurious high-heeled shoes, but with the same strap on the instep.
