For the second year, the post of creative director of Christian Dior has been occupied by designer Raf Simons. It demonstrates the impeccable harmony of the long-term traditions of the founder of the House and the requirements of modernity.

The Haute Couture Christian Dior Fall / Winter 2013-2014 collection is Simons' most radical and most sophisticated collection since joining Dior, although color blocks are not new to Simons, we saw it in the spring collection. Only in this collection, horizontal color blocks, turning into colored stripes and squares, mixed in one bow, turned out to be so bright that they literally cut the eyes. Looking through the photos of the collection, autumn-winter 2013-2014, it may seem that Raf Simons has mixed everything that is possible - colors, textures and styles.

Evaluating the new collection of Christian Dior, Fall-Winter 2013-2014 by Raf Simons, let's remember how it all began, remember Christian Dior himself.

Dior's journey to Haute Couture really began when his talent was spotted by Marcel Boussac, a textile magnate who funded Dior's personal fashion house by acquiring a mansion on Avenue Montaigne and helped his protégé open a shop. in 1946.

The first Dior collection, released in 1947, thundered around the world like a cannon shot - this is, without exaggeration, the most famous show in the history of fashion. The fashion concept of "New Look", introduced by Dior, once again turned the eyes of consumers to the excesses in Belle Epoque clothing and completely erased the memories of wartime fashion from their minds. Now it was a wasp silhouette, long skirts combined with tight corsets and a deliberately accentuated thigh line with special lining in the buttocks. And while ill-wishers were indignant at such a waste of matter, the new concept of Dior became a real sensation.

Over the next ten years, Dior ruled the fashion throne without fail, dictating new trends that gradually seeped into the mass market, putting his signature on innovative licensing deals and appearing on the covers of the cult magazine Time. However, in 1957, the world shuddered at the news of the death of the great designer. Dior has once again confirmed his status as a true star of newspaper headlines - a heart attack found him in a spa in Italy. He was 52 years old.

Journalistic articles were full of exclamations that the 21-year-old assistant of the great guru must "save fashion." What was the name of Dior's apprentice? Yves Saint Laurent? perhaps the only person at that time who had enough talent to take the place of the famous designer. Saint Laurent's first own collection, the provocative Trapeze, caused a resonance comparable to Dior's New Look.

A few years later, the former assistant decided to go beyond the usual image with his new collection "Beatnik" ("Hipster"), after which Yves Saint Laurent left the fashion house in the midst of the controversy that formed around the supervision of the designer of the House.

Since then, there have been a series of big names Mark Boan, Gianfranco Ferre and the most prominent designer? John Galliano (John Galliano), and finally, Raf Simons, who came in earnest and for a long time, at least let's hope so.

In general, you can not worry about the legacy of Christian Dior, his House is in good hands. As in the very beginning, Dior was helped by the money of Marcel Boussac, and today the House of Christian Dior provides a cloudless future with business flair.
