It all begins in 1856, when Burberry Group Plc was created in Basingstoke (Hampshire, UK).

Initially, the brand specialized in waterproof coats, which, given the English weather, were in good demand.

Over the years, in 1880, Thomas Burberry, the founder of the brand, invented the gabardine material, thus offering England a comfortable and waterproof option for equestrian sports, hunting and other activities so popular in a humid and foggy country.

Thanks to this invention, the company became truly famous, later the brand created special clothes for explorers and travelers, for example, for Amundsen, the discoverer of the South Pole.

Burberry adapts the design of clothing for everyday wear by soldiers and officers, thanks to which it receives a large government order for sewing 500,000 trench coats for the army. The fulfillment of the order brought huge profits to the brand and widespread publicity among the civilian population.

For a long time, the wealth of Burberry has been steadily growing, the things of this brand have gained fame. Style icons of the day, such as Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca and Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, gave the trench a chic touch by appearing on screen in classic British brand attire.

In 1997, Rose Marie Bravo took over as CEO of Burberry, starting a new milestone in the company's history, turning it into a luxury brand, and Roberto Menichetti launched the pr? Ta collection in 1998 porter, thus marking his tenure at Burberry as Creative Director.
