In general, ordering a belt is elementary, choose the color, size, quality of the leather, then choose a buckle from the assortment presented, and the master gives you the finished belt. But if you want a completely unique belt, you need to order a buckle, and this is where the real difficulties begin!

Buckles are made of metal, preferably a noble metal, and the work must be of high quality, the details on the buckle must be precise and refined. Who can do a job like this? Perhaps at the Fair of Masters they will undertake to make a buckle according to your sketches, but looking through the finished works, I could not see a single buckle that would impress ...

Apparently, there is only one way out - a direct road to the jeweler, because only jewelers can perform such work. This is where the most unpleasant part of this wonderful idea begins - jewelers charge a very expensive buckle. A buckle for a belt made of silver according to individual sketches can cost 25,000 rubles, and maybe 40,000. Moreover, the cost of silver does not play a big role here, the buckle is lightweight, and scrap silver for a jeweler costs mere pennies - 15-20 rubles per gram (2014).

At this stage of my life, I am sorry to give so much money for a belt, therefore I am thinking how to uniqueize the buckles. To do this, you can use a variety of vintage badges, badges, brooches purchased at flea markets or from collectors.

If a brooch is broken, for example, it will not have a hair clip, which is quite common, its price will be even lower. Such a brooch can be a great solution for decorating a buckle, although other options are possible, which I will share with you in future publications.
