Soviet dolls - photos and history

Do you remember Soviet dolls, or maybe you even played with them as a child? I didn’t have a chance to play Soviet dolls, but when you look at them now, for some reason they bring sadness, because these dolls have no homeland, their house is destroyed, the country where they were created is no longer there! Soviet dolls are orphan dolls.

The USSR included 15 republics that have now become independent states. But within the USSR, different republics had different traditions, which was reflected in the appearance of the dolls. Moreover, all the dolls had something in common, because they did not look like a Barbie doll. The country of the Soviets had its own vision of how the dolls should look like, in which the younger generations will play.

It is important to note here that Soviet ideology was not always bad. In the case of dolls and cartoons made in the USSR, everything was not bad at all. Soviet dolls could not boast of model figures like Barbie, they did not have such a rich wardrobe, but they were kind and loyal friends to all Soviet girls.

In addition to their kind and truly childish images, Soviet dolls had another advantage - they were made in the USSR from good materials. Even if they did not look as realistic as modern hinged beauties, the Soviet doll was absolutely harmless to the child, it was made from materials safe for health. And Soviet dolls were often distinguished by their strength and durability, thanks to which many girls played with dolls, which before them were faithful girlfriends of their mothers and even grandmothers.

In addition to large dolls, very small dolls were produced in the USSR, the so-called baby dolls. Bobblehead is a baby doll - a simplified version of the current reborn dolls... Soviet dolls-dolls had no gender, they were just small children and enjoyed special love from their mistresses.

The dolls were inexpensive, and therefore were available to every girl. In addition, due to its small size, the baby doll could be carried constantly with you in your pocket. For a baby doll, it is easy to sew clothes and dress according to your desires. I want it to be a boy - baby dolls were dressed in blue and white clothes, and if you wanted a girl, they would sew pink outfits.

Then the republics that make up the USSR fled in the hope that, having gained independence, they would heal better than before, and the Soviet dolls were quickly ousted by Barbie and various clones, Barbie fakes, which were mostly produced from nowhere and from what materials.

Today, Soviet dolls are again relevant, but they are no longer bought for little girls, but for the collection. Passionate about dolls, collectors find dolls from the distant past at flea markets, online auctions for their collection, where these dolls will find new girlfriends and may see a bright future, which their past mistresses never saw.
