Lily of the valley silver and Diorissimo

“The buds have blossomed, the forest has stirred,
All was rich with bright rays;
On its edge, from fragrant grass,
Silver lily of the valley looked out into the sun ... "

The scent of lily of the valley in perfumery

The smell of lily of the valley is one of the most subtle and pleasant smells. Delightful smell! It is pleasant to feel it everywhere - both in the forest, when it is brought by a light breeze, and in the house. However, you should not leave lilies of the valley in the room where you sleep, otherwise your head may hurt.

Its refreshing scent on the air is perceived as magical. Little white bell flowers - what could be simpler and at the same time prettier? Like porcelain, lily of the valley flowers on a thin and long stem hide behind a pair of large green leaves. So simple, but how beautiful and elegant they look. But the lily of the valley is especially beautiful in the forest or on the lawn.

In ancient Russian legends, lily of the valley is a symbol of love and purity. The legend about Sadko tells how the princess of Volkhova fell in love with Sadko with all her heart. However, he gave his heart to the girl Lyubava. The saddened Volkhova went to the river bank and began to cry, and where her tears fell, lilies of the valley grew.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, both in Russia and in France, there were practically no companies that would not have created perfumes with notes of lily of the valley. Flowers such as daisies, violets, lilies of the valley and other modest flowers have always been a symbol of spiritual purity. And in 1953 -1954. Soviet perfumer B. Gutsait completed work on a new fragrance "Lily of the Valley Silver".

This was an achievement in the art of perfumery not only in Russia, but throughout the world of fragrant fragrances created by great perfumers. In the composition, Gutsait used natural and synthetic ingredients. After all, the aroma of the humble lily of the valley is actually a very complex combination of many substances, and it is impossible to reproduce it by stripping with steam or during extraction. Therefore, this perfume is an achievement in the field of organic chemistry.

The bottle was quite simple and at the same time elegant - elongated, with a ground cork and a sprig of lily of the valley engraved all over the plane. But the beauty of the packaging, that is, the boxes, should probably be kept silent. It turned out to be not so good, because the Soviet printing industry was still using the equipment of 1914.

In 1954, the perfume went on sale. No one has ever had such a scent of lilies of the valley, neither in Russia, nor in France. It was the magical scent of real lilies of the valley. The melody of delicate flowers first sounded in Russia, and then with a difference of one and a half years - in France. Diorissimo perfume created by a French perfumer Edmond Roudnitskasounded delicious.

The following was written about these perfumery fragrances - "This is how lilies of the valley smell only in paradise." This happened in 1956, almost nine years from the moment when Christian Dior created the image of the Woman, graceful, with a thin waist and a fluffy skirt. It was she who needed such a scent that evokes pure, chaste, feminine associations. The French put the magic scent in a crystal bottle, which was created by the firm "Baccarat". The bottle was with a gilded cork in the shape of a bouquet.

After some time, the bottle was simplified, they began to make it from simple glass. The image of the beautiful woman for whom the fragrance was created did not correspond a little to the image of a Soviet worker. Soviet women learned about the new fashion with a thin waist and a fluffy skirt from the Argentine film "The Age of Love" with Lolita Torres in the title role. This was in 1954. Then, in all corners of our immense country, they not only sang songs from this film, but also saw the image of a woman who personified “Silver Lily of the Valley”.

Only a few years have passed and the perfumes themselves and the packaging have changed for the worse, since there was a planned economy in the Soviet country, all branches, including the perfumery industry, obeyed the plan.And consequently, to increase the release of perfume, it took a simplification, that is, deterioration, of the composition of "Lily of the Valley". Mass production and the growing avalanche of the plan diminished the high status of perfumery. Now the French Diorissimo is much more sophisticated. But it will only appear in Russia only in the 1970s.
