Zang Toi was born on 06/11/1961 in Kuala Kray in Kelantan, Malaysia.

At 18, he went to New York, where he began to pursue a long-conceived dream of becoming a clothing designer. Zang Toy began studying fashion craft at the famous Parsons School of Design.

In 1989 he opened his own atelier. It started with a small collection of costumes, dresses and colorful sarongs.
