Model Ines de la Fressange and her style

Ines de la Fressange is a model of the 80s, one of those who are remembered in the fashion world for a long time. Today she remains a style icon for many, inspires designers and is the standard of French chic and elegance. Ines de la Fressange is not only a model, she is a designer and muse of designers, the creator of her own perfume line and the author of the book "Parisienne and Her Style".

Karl Lagerfeld - an experienced designer has already gone down in history as the successor of the famous Coco Chanel. The Kaiser of fashion does not often admire the style of the stars and can very caustically and aptly comment on anyone, but there are women whom Lagerfeld shows special respect for and even turns to them for advice.

One of them is Ines de la Fressange, the daughter of a French marquis and an Argentinean fashion model. Full name - Ines Letizia Eglantin Isabelle de Seinard de la Fressange. For a long time in the 80s she was the constant muse of Karl Lagerfeld. Her unique resemblance to Coco Chanel, her cheerful character helped Karl Lagerfeld create outfits truly in the spirit of Mademoiselle herself.

When the designer created his works of the new collection, he probably constantly represented in them the young Coco Chanel, that is, Ines. But in 1989, there was a serious disagreement between them. Ines was offered to pose for the bust of the symbol of France - Marianne. However, unexpectedly, the designer took it not at all favorably.

In his understanding, Marianne is the personification of something “bourgeois and provincial”, and if she turns out to be with Ines’s face, he will not wear “monuments”. For Ines, this offer was very pleasant, and she agreed to become the new Marianne, but it turned out that friendship with Karl was lost for many, many years, he took Ines's consent as a betrayal ...

However, in everyone's souls, respect and even love for each other remained forever. This is probably why, after 20 years, they met again like old friends. And if Karl Lagerfeld himself said about her - "There are no words to describe how incredible she is ...", then most likely everyone will have to agree with this. Ines de la Fressange is truly an extraordinary woman.

She was born on August 11, 1957. Together with her brothers, Ines grew up on the outskirts of Paris. She did not think for a long time in choosing a profession, her high growth and thinness prompted her to follow in the footsteps of her model mother. In the first modeling agency she was sent back with advice to pluck her eyebrows and tidy up her makeup. But when Paolo Roversi shot Ines in a Dior ad, and her photos were everywhere, the model's finest hour came.

In 1975, a new model appeared on the pages of Elle, a slender girl who stood out among all for her high growth and thinness (with a height of 180 cm, she weighed 50 kg). After a while, she already took part in the shows of Thierry Mugler, Kenzo, Jean Paul Gaultier, etc.

It was noticed by other eminent designers as well. She met Karl Lagerfeld in Chloe, where he then worked. Then in 1983 Lagerfeld moved to Chanel. Thanks to Karl Lagerfeld's personal sympathy for her, in the 80s she became the first model to sign a seven-year contract with the Chanel Fashion House. The Chanel fashion house has never worked with one model for so long.

Karl was very kind to Ines, took care of her, admired her, for the show she could show many images. And Ines admired the designer, his vast knowledge of history and fashion, as well as how Karl knew how to tell all this, even the usual anecdotes from his stories came out extraordinary and funny. At this time, the names Ines de la Fressange and Chanel were one.

But in 1989, the designer and the model completely stopped communicating. Ines was upset by the breakup. Occasionally they met at store openings. Sometimes they exchanged jokes, teased each other ...

In 1991, in partnership with the Louis Vuitton group, she created a brand under her own name, opened a store selling clothes and perfumes.

At first everything was fine, Ines painted clothes and interiors, things were sold in the largest Parisian department stores, the design bureau was located in the most prestigious area of Paris, the business was growing. But that was, and now the brand under her name no longer belongs to her, and all products have nothing to do with her. And all because the successful model turned out to be not so successful, or rather inexperienced, in business affairs.

Her name was used by ambitious financiers to enter the fashion business. In this struggle, Ines was defeated, she could not regain the right to use her name, but she still had many more big undertakings and deeds. She continued to work, was engaged in the design and design of houses in the countryside, wrote memoirs about her life and work.

Then she was invited to become a consultant at Roger Vivier Couture to revive the once famous brand, whose exquisite taste she admired. She soon became artistic director and CEO here.
