How to clean or wash a sheep skin

I have always liked fur in clothes and interiors. But in the 21st century, it is almost impossible to decorate your home with a tiger skin or leopard... These lovely cats need protection. Another thing is the skin of a wolf or a bear, only with them it is not so simple. Therefore, sheepskins or an argali rug are best, they are a great alternative to small carpets.

Dry cleaning

This method of cleaning is the most expensive, and most importantly, it cannot be done at home, so we will not consider dry cleaning in this publication.

Skin cleaning with "Vanish"

We take the Vanish concentrated carpet cleaner and mix it with water. Next, beat the liquid until foam and wash the skin with a sponge. In the process of washing, you can straighten the wool with a comb or massage brush in order to rinse the wool from the very base.

When all impurities have been removed, rinse the skin with a wet sponge until the remaining foam is completely removed. After this procedure, the skin will be like new, but it may dry for several days.

Hand wash sheep skins

There are a lot of detergents in stores, including those for cleaning wool, which are suitable for hand washing. In addition to special products, you can use regular hair shampoo. It's no wonder if the shampoo washes your hair without falling out, which means it is perfect for cleaning sheep skins.

When washing the skins, as with hair wash do not use too hot water. The water temperature should be no higher than 30 degrees.

Soak the skin for 30 minutes in water with shampoo or special agent, and stir gently from time to time. Then the skin must be washed in warm water until the shampoo or detergent is completely washed off. It is important to note here - soap and washing powder are not suitable for these tasks, only shampoo and special products!

Machine wash

Modern washing machines have gentle modes for the delicate wash of woolen and cashmere garments. Therefore, the hide can be machine washed using shampoo or a special wool detergent. Beware of using laundry detergents and various fabric softeners.

It is necessary to wash the skin separately from other things, placing it in a special washing bag. But it is best not to resort to a washing machine, because there is a high probability that after washing it will lose its attractive appearance. Therefore, it is better to wash by hand and resort to this procedure, as a last resort, when the skin is heavily soiled.

How to dry the skin

In order for the skin to look perfect after cleaning with Vanish or washing, it must be properly dried. The first step is to brush the coat with a cat brush or other brush. Then lay the hide on a cloth away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Ideally dry outdoors or in a ventilated area. After drying, comb thoroughly again.
