Preparing plastic windows for winter.

Previously, preparing for winter took a lot of time and effort, people stored food for the winter, and this was not even in tsarist times, but quite recently. During the Soviet era and in the 90s, it was very popular to harvest potatoes, onions, carrots for the winter and spin all kinds of canned goods. Times were hard and the people, as it should be, scolded the government. Years have passed, today almost no one prepares food, because on any day you can buy everything at affordable prices in supermarkets and markets, but people still scold the government))) Although if you look around soberly, we live better day by day and more comfortable, therefore, preparation for winter is now very conditional.

Plastic Window

All you need to do is prepare the windows for winter, and for this you first need to thoroughly wash our plastic or oak windows. Someone washes on their own, other people whose time is expensive turn to the services of organizations that wash windows in apartments and cleaning services for a country house. And then, when the windows are washed, the following should be done - lubricate the locks with machine oil. Notice not with sunflower or butter, but with MACHINE OIL! Oilers with oil can be bought in many places, for example, where they sell sewing machines, overlocks.

Next, open the window frame, put a few newspapers under it and drip all the holes in the locks with an oil can. You need to start from the top and gradually move down. Try not to pour a large amount of oil into the locks, it will not fit in any case, and its excess will pour out on the newspaper or on the windowsill. After that, open and close the window several times, for ventilation and completely. This will distribute the oil to all moving parts of the locks.

After that, set the locks to winter mode, for this you need to use a special key. When the windows are placed in winter mode, the locks press the window sash more tightly against the frame, thereby retaining the heat that we need so much on long winter evenings.

Finally, grease the rubber bands on the frame and the opening sash; this can be done using different lubricants. The most affordable way is to use petroleum jelly, or you can sprinkle silicone grease from a can on a rag and rub it with all the available rubber bands of the window. Thanks to this procedure, the rubber will last longer, will be softer and better keep your home warm.

All that has been said concerns plastic windows with double-glazed windows. Maintenance of wooden windows is often much more complex and will require another long article, which I will write in the future. These are the thoughts I had today, looking at the gray sky and drizzling rain outside the window. It's noon and you have to turn on the lights in the room, autumn has come into its own!
