How to choose the right bra

The main principle of choosing a bra is as follows - if you feel discomfort or pain when wearing underwear, no matter what size and shape your breasts are, then you bought the wrong bra. The problem is most often in the size, either in the form or in the model, or maybe several reasons at once.

1. The straps are constantly falling off

What do you do in this case: Tighten the straps more, getting red stripes on the shoulders and pain in the back and neck.

What to do: Reduce the size of the belt and increase the cup - for example, if you are currently wearing 75 C, then you should try 70 D. The cup size there will be the same, but the fit may be noticeably better.

Why it helps: Falling shoulder straps in most cases are not the result of narrow shoulders - but the belt's too large for you is to blame. A tighter waistband will better fix the bra, and the straps will no longer fall off.

Belt tightness test: Standing with your bra closed, try to slip the straps over your shoulders. If the chest has "fallen" down, then the size of the bra belt is chosen incorrectly.

2. The breast falls out of the bra from the bottom

What you do: Periodically straighten your bra back in place

What to do: If your breasts fall out from below, and you have to constantly "drive" them back into the bra, then the reason is that the cup is too small for you - even if everything looks normal in the absence of movement. Most likely, the belt does not fit tightly enough - therefore, it is worth testing the fit of the belt. Therefore, as a starting solution, try increasing the cup by one size (for example, if you are wearing 75 C, then take 75 D). If your bra does not pass the belt test (below), then instead of 75 C take 70 E).

Why it helps: A larger cup can hold more of the breast mass by keeping it in place.

Cup volume test: while standing in a buttoned bra, raise your arms up. If a piece of breast appears from under the bone, then the cup is too small for you and needs to be enlarged.

Belt Volume Test Number 1: After wearing a bra in the morning, draw a line on the back along the lower edge of the belt with persistent eyeliner, eyebrow or lip pencil. After walking in a bra all day, at the level of the morning mark, answer the question, did the belt go up the back? If yes, then the size of the belt was chosen incorrectly.

Belt volume test number 2: With the bra closed, with maximum comfort force, pull the belt back with your hand. How much is it pulled from the plane of the back? If more than 4 cm, then the volume of your belt is probably too large.

3. The belt lifts up and crawls up the back, and the chest falls down

What you do: Tighten the straps tighter, trying to hold your breasts in place.

What to do: Seven troubles - one answer, you should reconsider your approach to choosing a bra size.

If the belt lifts up, and the chest, like on a swing, falls down, this means only one thing - the volume of the belt is too large for you, but the volume of the cup is not enough. Therefore, if you wear 75 C in this situation, then you need to go to 70 D at least, and maybe more, until the belt fits snugly against your back. And do not think that in a smaller volume you will suffocate - the volume of the belt will compensate you for a larger cup.

It is the belt that should hold the chest, not the shoulder straps - you should receive up to 90% of the support from the belt. If the belt does not fit tightly, then it will not be able to support you - and the chest will "fall" under the influence of its own weight, but your shoulders and back will languish from heavy loads.

Belt Volume Test: Assess the position of the belt at the back after a day in a bra.Where is it planted? If it is closer to the shoulder blades than to the waist, then the size of the belt is chosen incorrectly. Is the belt line parallel to the floor? If not, and the belt is bent in an arc, then the volume of the belt is chosen incorrectly.

4. You notice that your breasts are splitting into parts and coming out of the cup - under the thin jersey you can clearly see “4 breasts”.

What are you doing: Trying to ignore this fact and straighten your bra.

What to do: enlarge bra cup size... For example, if you have such a thing in a size of 75 C, take 75 D for trying on.

Imagine that you have taken a glass filled to the brim with water. Try pouring more water into it - and it will overflow, filling your hands. A breast that has come out of a bra requires a "vessel" of a larger volume - then it will not come out.

Cup Volume Test: Try leaning down in your bra and describing a pair of eights with your breasts. Breasts burst out of the cup and now needs to be refilled? That's the same. This means that the volume of the cup is small for you.

5. You are annoyed by the bones in the bra, because some problems constantly occur with them: they rub you from the side, then they crawl out and prick your chest, then they break. You are dreaming of a bralette that fits you - no matter your size.

What you do: Sew the underwires back into the holster, straighten your bra during the day, don't wear a bra at all.

What to do: if the bones rub, break or come out, then this is a sign that their size does not suit you - so you need to choose a different size by increasing the cup. For example, if you wear 75 C, then you should choose 70 D or 70 E - the bones there will be wider, and therefore the load on them will decrease. Of course, it also happens that the problem lies in the bra model itself - for example, the bones are too high for you, and therefore they prick your armpit.

It is best to seek professional help when choosing a bra, because understanding the configuration of the underwire is not so easy.

Why it works: Changing the size of your bra will change the shape of the underwire (shape, length, and width), and if you get the right size, it will give you comfort and relief.

Bone Size Test: You will need a soft eyeliner or lip liner. Standing without a bra, bend forward - let your chest hang down. Contour the entire volume of your chest along the chest crease, all the way to the very end - assuming that all that hangs down is the chest. As a result, you should get half-arcs, which in shape resemble the bones in a bra.

Now compare the volume and shape of the bones in your bra: if the bra's bones are smaller in circumference than your drawn ones, then the cup size was chosen incorrectly - you need the bone to sit behind the breast, ringing the entire breast mass from the sides. If the bone is on the chest, then it is not surprising that it hurts and unpleasant for you: it rubs the delicate tissue of the breast.

6. It hurts you to wear a bra because it hurts your chest, so you try to avoid wearing a bra at all.

What you do: You do nothing without realizing that the problem is in the bra. You can blame fatigue and poor health on the weather, heredity, stress, and so on - in short, everything is to blame, just not the bra.

What to do: Get professional help. An improperly fitted bra is dangerous because it pinches the nerves of your shoulder, squeezes the chest mass, and contributes to the stagnation of lymph, and this, in turn, provokes breast cancer. Therefore, every woman needs to choose and buy the right bra, because not only beauty, but also health depends on it.

If you suffer from your bra, then know that this is not normal - and he (or they) simply does not fit you in size, shape, underwired configuration, and so on.And the problem here is not you - it is worth choosing the right bra, and all problems will disappear, despite the "narrow shoulders", "wide-set breasts", "large" or "small" breasts.

Test for the comfort of your bra: Think about how many times a day do you think about your bra? How often do you have to straighten a loose strap or straighten a bra over your body? If your bra is right, then you just put it on in the morning - and forgot. You don't think about it anymore, and you don't feel it. If you have to think about the bra and adjust it, or you feel discomfort during the day, then the bra is not for you. Point.

7. The chest lives a separate life from you. You feel its movement at the slightest physical activity - walking, bending, not to mention running. You are uncomfortable and embarrassed that your chest is swaying so much. You may even give up sports for this reason.

What you do: Probably nothing - according to studies, about half of women ignore pain during physical activity. Perhaps you are simply avoiding any activity, including sports.

What to do: Find a good bra in the right size that will support you. You can choose a sports bra or a casual bra if you don't play sports - in any case, properly sized, it will give you the degree of support you need.

Modern science has come up with a lot of ways to dampen breast vibrations so that women feel comfortable - this is the shape and cut of the cups, the design of the model, and low-elastic materials. If you combine the fruits of innovation with the skill of the selection of lingerie, then any woman can get a wonderful bra with which she can go wherever.

Test for the stability of your bra: Try jumping around in your bra. Are you comfortable? If you feel that your breasts are falling out, then your bra is not supporting you enough.
