But it should be noted right away that this type of pockets is suitable only for tall and slender girls.

Even for those with an hourglass figure, there is not always a place for large patch pockets. If you wish to place them on the hips or on the chest line, then they may violate your ideal proportions. First, I would like to note that there are many types of patch pockets, they differ in shape and size, as well as in the design of the entrance to the pocket and its fastener. What pockets were among the most popular? These are, first of all, patch pockets with a flap, then briefcase pockets and simple patch pockets.

1. Simple patch pockets

A simple patch pocket is most often made on things without lining. They try to highlight simple rectangular pockets on the product with their huge size or their number, sometimes they are sewn from another fabric.



Pockets of a more complex type differ in different original shapes, interesting and complex entrance.

2. Patch pockets with flap

The most popular options in modern fashion are with valves. Valves have always been considered an accessory of workwear, for example, military or work clothes, and now they also adorn women's clothing. Patch pockets with a flap gained particular popularity in the 30s - 40s XX century.

Valves take various shapes, but more often we meet with an angle in the middle or rectangular. The flaps can be fastened with buttons or zippers, there are also buckles.

3. Portfolio pockets

These pockets have a cut that creates volume, or "portfolio". In this case, the upper part of the pocket, which we see, slightly departs from the main product. A briefcase pocket can have folds, tucks, gathers, buttons or zippers. A good example of a briefcase pocket is the pockets on safari-style blazers.



And it should also be noted that the location of patch pockets on the product can be very different. Designers, striving to feel freedom and stand out from everyone, find new places in clothing. There is such an arrangement of pockets that you cannot use them, they perform a decorative function.

Earlier, at the beginning of their appearance, pockets had only one function - they had to put something in them. Today they also play a decorative role. It's better not to put anything in your pockets.
