Chemical composition: aluminosilicate - (Na, Ca) 8 [(AlSiO4) 6 | (SO4) 2]. The main impurities are potassium, chlorine and water. Olivine, nepheline, leucite are often found in the deposits of hayuin. The hayuin stone most often has a characteristic blue and even blue color. There are grayish-white, yellow, pink and green crystals. The mineral is quite fragile, with a hardness of 5.5 - 6 and a density of 2.45 g / cm3. Crystals translucent to transparent.



Hauyin is found in magnesian skarns, alkaline volcanic rocks.

Gayuin deposits

In Russia, hayuin stone is mined in the south of the Trans-Baikal Territory (Slyudyanka). In the Western Pamirs in Tajikistan, hayuin is found in lazurite deposits, in Italy - in the Albanian mountains. The most beautiful gem-quality crystals are found in Germany. There are known deposits in Spain and in the Western Hemisphere - in the USA and Canada, as well as in China.



Transparent hayuin crystals are used in jewelry, they are cut with a classic cut or cut into cabochons. Gayuin crystals look great in cut, especially blue ones. Most often they are small, which limits their use in jewelry.



In Germany, it is possible to find magnificent crystals that differ in their beauty and size, however, they turn out to be no more than 3 carats in cut, more often up to 1 carat are found. Therefore, the price of a crystal depends not only on the color, but also on the size. Gayuin is a spectacular stone, it is not inferior in beauty to sapphires or tourmaline paraiba.

Apart from jewelry and interested collectors, hayuin has no practical value anywhere else.


All blue stones, like the blue color, bring calmness, and therefore lithotherapists use hayuin to treat depression, upper respiratory tract diseases, inflammatory processes of the kidneys, bladder and various kinds of skin diseases.
