Kanoko-dome. Small adornments in the form of flowers or butterflies. These kanzashi are made of jade, coral, pearls, quartz, agate, gold, silver, or tortoiseshell.

Bira-kanzashi. (waving kanzashi). They were used to decorate the hair of unmarried girls of the merchant class. These decorations were in the form of butterflies, birds with hanging chains.

Ogi-kanzashi. or decorations for princesses. Here the shape of the main part looks like a fan (s) with metal pendants. All this is attached to a long hairpin.

There are also other varieties, such as bira-bira, reminiscent of ogi-kanzashi, kogai-kanzashi - in the form of a sword, tsumami-kanzashi - silk flowers, with an origami-like technique. Over the centuries, certain traditions of wearing kanzashi have developed. In European countries, the most popular are hana-kanzashi or kanzashi with flowers, the content, shape and color of which depends on the season and month of the traditional calendar.
