How Russian plastic surgeons are gaining worldwide recognition

According to journalists and popular bloggers, there is no medicine in Russia at all. Even ordinary people like to be smart and say that we have no doctors, and Russian hospitals can be called death hospitals. Creepy stories are constantly being told on social media and pictures of hospitals are shown that resemble a field hospital during the Second World War.

Plastic surgery in Russia

In 2019, I had to deal with our medicine, I underwent examination and did a laparoscopy. My relatives and friends also came across Russian medicine. Someone got a pacemaker for free, another was successfully treated for a stroke, and he fully recovered. Many people I know asked for help in 2017-2019.

And my friends did plastic surgery, I will not list which ones, the list will turn out to be very long. The main thing is that everyone is happy with the results. But today I will not tell my experience, I would like to share a story about our medicine from the plastic surgeon Ekaterina Kudinova.

Export plastic surgery

In recent years, we have become so accustomed to scolding the domestic health care system that we have imperceptibly convinced ourselves that there is nothing good in it and cannot be. However, this is not at all the case! Our doctors have something to be proud of, and there is something to teach their foreign colleagues in many fields of medicine, including plastic surgery.

Plastic surgery in Russia

180 degree turn

Since 2015, the Russian Association of Medical Tourism (RAMT) annually records an increase in the number of foreigners who come to our country for one or another medical help. Moreover, this growth is calculated in tens of percent. Why are these people going to Russia? Oddly enough, for world-class medicine.

The material and technical equipment of Russian hospitals and clinics is now no different from European and American ones. The qualifications of practicing doctors are also in no way inferior to foreign colleagues, and in some cases even surpasses it. Moreover, the cost of the same procedure in the West and in Russia may differ several times.

For example, heart surgery in the United States costs 10 times more than in Moscow or St. Petersburg, and in vitro fertilization in Russia will cost 3 times less than in Europe or Israel. An important plus: no one in our country would even think of looking at a patient's passport, while in a number of countries there is a strict ban on IVF after 40 and even after 35 years.

Plastic surgery in Russia, the real situation

Demand speaks of quality

Russian ophthalmologists, dentists, orthopedists and plastic surgeons are in great demand among foreign patients. Yes, yes, today more and more residents of Europe and North America come to our country in order to have rhinoplasty, mammoplasty or facelift for themselves.

Foreigners in Russian medicine are attracted not only by the low prices and qualifications of doctors, but also by the individual approach to each patient. In Europe and the United States, doctors act strictly according to a template, even in cases where deviations from the rules will only benefit. Domestic specialists, on the contrary, demonstrate great flexibility and readiness to make adjustments to the treatment plan after identifying certain nuances of the patient's body structure in the process of diagnostics.

In addition, every Russian plastic surgeon with a name has his own methodology, his own style and handwriting of work, which will allow him to achieve consistently high results. My know-how, for example, is called HD-Lifting (smart plastic), which combines low-traumatic and ultra-precise restoration of facial lines and relief with the simultaneous restoration of skin quality.

The target audience

Of course, foreigners only go to top Russian specialists, but their number is gradually increasing. The backbone of the target audience is made up of Russian-speaking immigrants from the republics of the former USSR, who, upon returning home, become the best advertisement for the professionalism and qualifications of Russian doctors.

According to the RAMT, in parallel with the increase in the volume of inbound medical tourism, outbound medical tourism is decreasing annually by 10-15 percent. In the same plastic surgery, the quality of services provided within the country has long been equal to that of foreign clinics, and in a number of cases, patients who are accustomed to performing operations in Europe, Israel and the United States, not being satisfied with the result obtained, turn to Russian specialists with a request to correct other people's flaws.

Work on bugs

I know what I'm talking about. I also have such patients in my practice. For example, not so long ago, Inessa, who resides in Australia, turned to me for help, with a request to eliminate the results of an unsuccessful lifting. The girl was in despair, she ceased to be like herself: the lobes were deformed, the ears sagged, and instead of neat stitches, the foreign specialist left her with rough scars.

After the repeated plasty, the patient's mood improved dramatically: the new facelift was perfect and the girl received an even better result than the one she had originally hoped for.

Recognition through demonstrable results

The qualifications and author's methods of domestic specialists are gradually being recognized in the professional world community. This happens, among other things, thanks to such events as master classes, for example, in the framework of the International Congress of Plastic Surgery in Istanbul.

At this symposium, very significant in the professional world, one can not only learn about the latest trends in plastic surgery, but also observe the work of leading specialists in this field with one's own eyes and, perhaps most importantly, compare the results. So, without false modesty, I want to say that on the second day after the neck and face lift performed using the HD-Lifting method, my patient was the only one of all to have no postoperative hematomas and characteristic edema, which was a pleasant surprise for her and a reason for genuine professional interest from the outside. foreign colleagues.

After such a visual demonstration of a thorough knowledge of all aspects of maxillofacial anatomy and the effectiveness of the author's methods used, I was offered to join the scientific council of the International Istanbul Congress of Plastic Surgery.

Another evidence of the recognition of the achievements of Russian plastic surgery can be considered the fact that one of the two teachers on the course “Face Anatomy. Dangerous Zones "at the University of Bordeaux - Russian. More precisely, a Russian woman. The workshop is headed by Vincent Casoli, professor of the local university, a venerable European surgeon.

The second teacher is me. A curious and at the same time indicative detail: initially I was invited to these courses as an assistant to Dr. Casoli, but in the very first days of work it became clear that my qualifications were much higher than initially assumed and my status at the University of Bordeaux had to be revised.
