Cosmetics and perfumes from Yves Saint Laurent give me happy moments

“Over the years, I realized that the most important thing in a dress is a woman,
who wears it. "
Yves Saint Laurent

The life of this outstanding fashion designer has not been easy. His life is both dizzying ups and dizzying falls. And his muse for many years was the brilliant French actress Catherine Deneuve. This is what a woman dressed by Yves Saint Laurent should be like.

Yves Saint Laurent

Yves Henri Dona Mathieu Saint Laurent was born on August 1, 1936 in Algeria. This French colony in North Africa, which by the 1950s of the twentieth century, the French will begin to consider practically their own, primordially French territory. Yves Saint Laurent was born into a wealthy and aristocratic family. His talents were encouraged from childhood, and when he graduated from high school, his family moved to Paris.

In Paris, Yves studied drawing courses and also took part in a competition for young designers. He was then only 17 years old. In the evening dress nomination, he shared first place with Karl Lagerfeld... And his sketches were noticed by Michel de Brunoff, head of French Vogue. And after the publication of Yves Saint Laurent's sketches in this well-known magazine, he meets Christian Dior. In 1955 he became his assistant. Yves Saint Laurent is only 19 years old. Dizzying success. It seemed that fate would continue to pamper him. And so it was. Bye. In 1957, after the unexpected death of Dior, Yves Saint Laurent became his successor.

And soon he released his first independent collection for "Dior" - "Trapezium". In this collection, Yves departs from tradition. By that time, "Dior" was associated with successful women, far from young. And Yves Saint Laurent creates a collection that smelled of youth and freshness. In his products there was an abundance of sharp lines, unusual proportions.

Yves Saint Laurent's next collection, The Beatnik, was even more challenging. In it, he actively used cropped motorcycle suits and jackets, under which turtlenecks were worn instead of shirts. Yves Saint Laurent, this young couturier, is becoming too avant-garde for a respectable Dior houses... And in 1960, taking advantage of Yves's conscription into the army, as a pretext, he was expelled from the House of "Dior". In his place was appointed designer Mark Boan.

Yves Saint Laurent enters the army. He is sent to the front in Africa. Algeria, the same Algeria where he was born, is now fighting against France, fighting for its independence. After 20 days, Yves will have a nervous breakdown. He will be demobilized and sent to a psychiatric clinic for treatment. It seemed that luck had changed him forever. But then his old friend and entrepreneur Pierre Berger comes to his aid. They are suing Dior fashion house investors for early termination of a contract. And they win the case, having received good compensation. Berger also finds an investor - American billionaire Mark Robison. With the money received, Yves Saint Laurent creates his own brand - the House of “Yves Saint Laurent”, in short “YSL”.

And the first collection of the new Fashion House was published in 1962. Yves Saint Laurent was immediately named an anarchist from fashion, because he, in particular, dressed his models in double-breasted suits, which were previously considered exclusively men's clothing. Yves Saint Laurent was one of the first to create transparent blouses. One of the first to bring black models to the catwalk. He will invent a woman's tuxedo. And during the Vietnam War, he will release a collection in camouflage style. Yves Saint Laurent has always been unusual, and this is not surprising when you consider that he drew inspiration from the works of Picasso and Van Gogh.

The YSL fashion house also produced perfumes. So in the advertising campaign for the new fragrance, which took place in 1971, Yves Saint Laurent personally acted as a model, but even then it was not without shocking, the couturier posed naked.

In 2002, Yves Saint Laurent finally retires. Shortly before his death, he will tie the knot with his longtime friend, Pierre Berger. This famous couturier will die in June 2008 after a long illness, and his ashes, at the request of Yves Saint Laurent himself, will be scattered over the garden of his beloved villa Majorelle.

Today, the Yves Saint Laurent Fashion House is owned by Gucci Group Corporation.
