Anti-trends in manicure for spring 2020: what not to do?

Fashion is very changeable, and what was trending last season may become the most gaudy and vulgar anti-trend today. This applies not only to clothes and wardrobe, but also to manicure as well. Therefore, we decided to understand in more detail what anti-trends in manicure for spring 2020 will be the most obvious. And we will show you how to replace the now familiar, but no longer fashionable nail design.

Where do the trends in manicure come from?

To begin with, it is worth figuring out who dictates fashion in terms of nail design? There are two such options, and both play a role in creating the main trends of the season.

Anti-trends in manicure for spring 2020: what not to do?

1. Fashion catwalks

Of course, first of all, we, as well as the masters of manicure, "spy" the design on fashion catwalks. After all, if the shows of the season dictate fashion in clothes and accessories, the same can be done in makeup, hairstyles and manicure. Any collection of clothes from any designer requires thoughtfulness in combining things with each other, in the selection of shoes, bags, accessories, jewelry and bijouterie. And it is quite understandable that hairstyle, makeup and manicure should be suitable for this image.

That is why the main requirement for most models at the shows is the minimum length of nails and the absence of any design or coating at all. After all, the designer must definitely make these nails suitable for the whole image. If one or more main colors prevail in the collection, then the nails can be painted in the same color scheme. Or patterns and prints can be repeated on the nail plate, just like on things.

2. Salons and nail art masters

The second option for the spread of certain trends is the so-called salon trends. For example, you saw a beautiful, memorable, very original and even quite unusual nail design on Instagram, and you wanted to repeat it. You will definitely save the photo and show it to your master, asking you to make a "duplicate" on your hands. So a trend was born, which after you the master will recommend to his other clients.

Often, one trend is related to a specific location. That is, for example, the trend of an almond-shaped nail will be relevant in one city, while square nails will still be in vogue in the neighboring one. But, one way or another, both masters and clients of nail salons are guided by more famous beauty experts and masters, by those photos and publications that they see on social networks. And those, in turn, as a rule, draw ideas again from fashion shows.

Antitrends in manicure spring 2020

But whoever dictated the trends in the nail service and the manicure industry, it is easy to determine what is already one hundred percent out of fashion. We decided to share with you the main anti-trends for the spring season. What exactly should not be done, and how to replace an unfashionable manicure?

Antitrend # 1: black and burgundy

Black nails are considered classics and it comes as no surprise. This achromatic color is combined with absolutely all colors of the spectrum, it can be combined as you like. The same is with the noble "wine" shades: cherry, plum, grapes and eggplant, the same burgundy, Marsala and dark purple. Dark colors are taboo for this spring. Dark and gloomy colors should be left until autumn and winter.

What to replace?
It's simple: in the spring, use the full light light pastel shades, and in the summer - more juicy and bright. Are you close to the palette of red? Then choose the colors of ripe berries (raspberry, strawberry, currant), the scarlet color of red pepper (Chili Pepper is one of the most fashionable colors of 2020 according to the Pantone Institute), rich peach and bright coral colors.

Antitrend # 2: neon colors

The neon “felt-tip” colors on the nails are really eye-catching, don't they? But such shades are a thing of the past, more precisely, they remained in the past year and in past seasons. Unless you are 14-15 years old, it is better to refuse from bright neon (yellow, orange, light green, pink or blue in "acid" version).

What to replace?
All the above-mentioned shades are quite acceptable, but without brightness, neon, phosphoricity. When choosing colors for your nail cover, give preference to more natural shades. If blue, then the color of the sky or worn jeans (Faded Denim), if orange, then warm and deep (Orange Tiger), if pink, then muted (Fruit Dove), if green, then a shade of grass or sea lagoon (Eden and Biskay Green , respectively).

Antitrend # 3: bright scarlet and excessive length

Bright blood red nail polish in extravagant length - do you want to be a real vamp woman? But, unfortunately, such a combination today will be a real anti-trend. It is worth saying that this is not only unrestrained and not aesthetically pleasing, but also scares off the opposite sex: according to statistics, men do not like scarlet varnish on long nails.

What to replace?
Long nails are quite welcomed by designers on fashion catwalks, as well as by famous salon masters and beauty bloggers. But if length and a beautiful shape are important to you, choose more restrained tones that are not striking, ideally nude. If you are used to using red polish every day and do not see a different shade on your nails, you will have to sacrifice excessive length in favor of short or medium.

Antitrend # 4: matte finish

The matte finish looks great on nails in beautiful pastel tones: on pale pink, light blue, pale lemon, lavender. But these colors are traditionally winter colors, and therefore the matte finish and design in the form of "sprinkled snow" or "knitted patterns" should be left for the cold season.

What to replace?
In the spring and summer, it is better to add more brightness to your nails. And not due to the bright neon shades, but due to the beautiful glossy shine. If you regularly make yourself a gel polish from a master, make sure that he carefully removes the sticky layer from the final top coat on the nails. This will give your nails a perfect shine. And at home, manicure can be covered with clear varnish as it fades to restore shine and smoothness.

Antitrend # 5: large sequins

Well, about the abundance of sparkles, large-mesh glitter, sparkling varnishes and gel varnishes, stones and rhinestones, we can also say that they are appropriate in winter. Especially - on New Year's holidays. In spring and summer, you should avoid excessive glitter and deliberate sparkle of the "Christmas tree".

What to replace?
But this does not mean that shine should be abandoned altogether! It just needs to be much lighter and more unobtrusive. Glitter varnishes are allowed, but it should be very fine glitter, shimmering and iridescent like mother-of-pearl. If you like to use rhinestones for nail design, it is better to use them 1-2 things for each nail, rather than strew the entire nail plate. The same with flat foil sequins: use a couple of medium-sized pieces on a single-colored coating base.
