Autumn is the most "knitted" time of the year, you can't say otherwise! It is in the fall that most of us prefer practical, warm, cozy and comfortable knitwear, thin knitwear, brushed fabrics, knitting and crocheting of different textures ... We decided to figure out in more detail what kind of knitwear to wear in the fall of 2020, with what and how ?

Sweaters, jumpers and pullovers

All these names can be conventionally given one name: "knitted jacket", so, probably, it is clearer. And yes, all this is about knitwear. In 2020, designers offer such an abundance of styles, cuts, decor, finishes, colors and prints of sweaters, jumpers and pullovers that everyone can easily find something for their original image and unique style.



Fitted models, turtlenecks and knee-highs in fine knitwear will fit perfectly into an exquisite and sophisticated business look to look as feminine as possible. On top of them, you can put on a jacket or trench coat, combine with a strict skirt or trousers, with pumps and boots. It is these restrained options in basic colors that we saw on the catwalks at the shows of Victoria Beckham, David Koma, Giorgio Armani, Alberta Ferretti, Salvatore Ferragamo, Paco Rabanne and many others.

Oversized models, voluminous and wide, with folded pleats, loose in shape, suitable for casual casual style. However, if at work you do not have a very strict dress code, you can safely wear them in the office, combining them with strict pencil skirts or trousers, flared midi skirts. Such looks were suggested by designers Jonathan Simkhai, Jil Sander, Roksanda, Victoria Beckham, Alejandra Alonso Rojas, Oscar De La Renta and Michael Kors.



To those who love unusual styles, it is worth paying attention to asymmetric sweater models, which have a hem of more than one length, there is no one sleeve, or there are completely different textures of fabric and knitting. Pullovers with voluminous sleeves on the cuffs also look original - like a flashlight sleeve, only long and knitted. See Vivetta, Hellessy, Fendi, Michael Kors for examples.



Many designers liked large knit textures from thick threads, made on thick, respectively, knitting needles, as well as openwork weaving with interesting patterns: Tory Burch, Altuzarra. For warm oversized sweaters, embossed knitting and braid patterns are preferable, as well as similar textured ornaments on a smooth background.



Also, many at the fall 2020 shows showed interesting ornaments, bright prints and patterns on knitted fabric: animalistic and floral motifs, lettering, logos, ethnic ornaments (from embroidery motifs and Aztec geometric patterns to traditional Scandinavian snowflakes and deer) - Adeam, Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Prabal Gurung, Prada, Rejina Pyo.

Cardigans, capes, ponchos and stoles

What to do when you sit in one place for a long time and start to freeze? Of course, wrap yourself up in cozy stole or cape: they are applicable not only as outerwear or an accessory, but also as an additional means of insulation in the office or even at home. Sleeveless capes can resemble bright Indian ponchos or discreet aristocratic capes. A wide warm stole to match with a sweater, like Michael Kors, can successfully replace a headdress and a scarf, or even a whole hood during winter winds and frosts.



Cardigans perfectly replace outerwear when it is still not cool enough outside. At the same time, cardigans are striking in their variety. They can be of very different lengths, ranging from cropped ones (Elie Tahari, Chanel, Luisa Beccaria, Marc Jacobs, Mark Fast, Adeam) and ending with ankle-length maxi. The latter will be a real hit, but the knee length or slightly higher will be more practical (Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Chanel, Altuzarra, L'Agence). Cardigans can be either fitted or oversized, with a dropped shoulder line or batwing sleeves, with short sleeves or without them at all (elongated vests).



Very often we saw cardigans and capes on the catwalks in the form poncho (Zimmermann, Sally LaPointe). This is an excellent and very simple solution: with minimal knitting skills, you can “create” a poncho yourself. It only has a slit for the head and poncho slips over the head. There are no sleeves, but the body is perfectly warmed precisely because it is inside the cape. The poncho can be wrap-around and even with a belt, but always without sleeves.

Knitted dresses and suits with skirts

Knitted dresses and suits with skirts will be another hit of the season. They can be made of thin jersey on a cotton basis, and this is perfect for the very beginning of autumn and even for a cool summer. Or maybe it is a large embossed knitting made of a wool-based thread, which will perfectly warm you on cold days. If you are planning to wear a woolen dress, it is better to wear a top or a thin combination under the bottom so that the wool does not "bite".

The most popular option jersey suits steel deuces from top / sweater and skirt. The top can be with or without sleeves, in the form of a turtleneck or a golf, or in the form of a fairly voluminous sweater. Skirts can also be of very different styles and lengths, ranging from short, tight mini or straight pencil skirts to the knee, and ending with flared wide midi skirts with pleats. Concerning knitted dresses, then this is a real must-have of the autumn 2020 season for any fashionista. The designers offered a huge variety of models for any occasion, any look and for any weather. We saw elegant models from thin smooth knitwear for business looks at Alexander McQueen, Dion Lee, Proenza Schouler, Jonathan Simkhai, Self Portrait. Restrained colors of dresses make them quite basic, suitable for jackets and jackets, for any outerwear, shoes and accessories.

Sports dresses and oversized loose dresses from Monse, Prabal Gurung, Celine, Altuzarra, Salvatore Ferragamo, Oscar De La Renta are suitable for everyday look. They can be worn with sneakers, sneakers, slip-ons and ballet shoes, and in cold weather - with leather jackets and boots.
