Marilyn Monroe - biography, creativity and best photos

She was born on June 1, 1926, in a regular clinic in Los Angeles. Her mother, Gladys Monroe Baker Mortensen, was already married twice and her two children lived with their first husband. But she decided to give little Norma, as they say now, into good hands. A family that could give her a good upbringing was quickly found. It was taken by religious people. Foster father Albert Wayne Bolender was a postman and, in his spare time, a Baptist preacher. The norm grew up as a cheerful and not developed child for her age. When she was five years old, a good college was chosen for her. It would have been a happy childhood, but suddenly a real mother appeared on her way - the one who gave birth to her, and after her the grandmother. They decided to remember the existence of their daughter and granddaughter.

For some reason, little Norma was afraid of her new, real relatives, who at first came just to visit. From what? She will explain this to herself much later. But when she was 8 years old, Gladys decided that it was time for the girl to live with her. The happy childhood is over. For four years she lived with her "mother", but in fact she was simply left to herself. At the age of eleven, one day when I came home from school, I learned from the neighbors that my mother had fallen ill and was now in the hospital, and she, Norma, would live in an orphanage. Then again there were adoptive parents who did not really take care of the girl, and again she returned to the orphanage. Norma wandered among foster families until she was 16 years old, when she had to return to the orphanage again, since the new parents moved to another city, or, simply, they no longer needed Norma. Norma had no education, no upbringing, no self-confidence. She grew up among people who had primitive pleasures. However, Norma was pretty. And then she decided to take a serious step - to get married, but just not to return to the orphanage.

This is how her first marriage followed, a marriage without love. Maybe right now she could get her life back to normal, but again her mother appeared on her way. And again everything changed. Mother always burst into her life as a destructive force. The family began to fall apart. What happened? Norma, partly from her mother, and partly when meeting with Albert Bolender, learned about the spiritual secrets of her family. It turns out that her grandmother, having disappeared unexpectedly even when their first meeting took place, actually went to a psychiatric hospital, her maternal uncle committed suicide on the basis of the same illness, and her mother went to the same hospital as her grandmother. Norma thought about the family tragedy, about the possibility of having healthy children. Norma's family life experienced destructive fluctuations.

When her husband, James Dougherty, joined the merchant navy, Norma also went to work - she was painting planes at an aircraft factory. And then she again had a chance to change her life. Once at a factory, a photographer was shooting pretty faces for the Yankee army magazine and, of course, noticed a lovely creature with a perky face and a magnificent bust. A month later, her photograph brought her success. Then Norma decided to leave her job at the factory and got a job at the Blue Book photo agency, where she received more for an hour of posing in a bathing suit than at the factory for the whole day. When James returned home, he saw another woman. Unhappy with his wife's popularity, he offered her a choice - either him or a career. Of course, Norma chose the latter. Having received a divorce, she dyed her hair, becoming platinum blonde, changed her name. On July 26, 1946, Marilyn Monroe appeared. She felt her strength - the road to happiness, up, she decided to pave her feminine charms.Pictures of the gorgeous blonde appeared on the covers of prestigious magazines: Peak, Onion, Sir, Life, ... Howard Hughes, film boss, millionaire drew her attention to her, but the head of XX century Fox Daril Zanuk, seeing the interest of a competing with him to the company to Norma, immediately offered a contract statistics. But Marilyn was out of luck. A girl without upbringing and without education, could she compete with other beauties of the same kind who were expecting a real role? The acting classes with the then famous teacher Natasha Leites did not help either. Some episodic roles did not bring success, somewhere they simply did not renew the contract with her.

Marilyn found herself without money, fame and work. And then she was really lucky. Marilyn met Johnny Hyde, the deputy chairman of the acting agency, who immediately lost his head and threw his heart and the whole world at the feet of a gorgeous blonde. Hyde put all his acting experience into her and turned Marilyn into a successful actress. It is to him that she owes her ascent to the top of fame. Monroe refused to marry him - an incredible step in Hollywood - to lose the opportunity to receive $ 1.5 million after his death (Hyde was already terminally ill at the time), and at the same time it was one of the most mysterious decisions of Marilyn Monroe. But she agreed to star in the movie "Happy in Love", then "Asphalt Jungle". In the last film, she had real success. She captivated the audience with her sexual energy, and all her movements on the screen were akin to hypnosis.

Hyde is dead. Marilyn tried to commit suicide for the first time. But Hyde, passing away, managed to provide for his beloved - he signed a contract with "XX century Fox" and thereby created all the conditions for her further success.

Then gradually the world was conquered by television, and people were more willing to sit in front of the TV screen than in the cinema hall. And they went to films with Marilyn Monroe. She was always at ease with the press - talkative, friendly, never scandals over words, if the press incorrectly transformed her words, she always looked great. Therefore, not only in the cinema, where for the audience she was always desirable, but also in the press, readers were looking for headlines under which they found news about her.
Marilyn struggled to engage in self-education - what was taken from her as a child - read classical literature, appreciated reliability in men.
The film "Niagara" brought her real success, Monroe became a real star. This was followed by the films "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", "How to Marry a Millionaire." Monroe's popularity took on incredible proportions - viewers attended films where she played and even those that were very mediocre, the press hunted her - every word or phrase of her was instantly recorded. For example, her phrase that at night she puts on only a drop Chanel No. 5, made the perfume legendary. Monroe has become a model of sophisticated sexuality.
How could it happen that with a beautiful face and body, of which there were hundreds, Marilyn became a dream come true for millions?

Many biographers of Marilyn Monroe agree that this is not only the result of hard work and incredible sexuality and femininity, but something more. Photographer Bert Stern, who has photographed Marilyn more than once, said of her: “She was light, and a goddess, and the moon. Dal, dream, mystery and danger…. ”.

Awards poured in ... In February 1953, at the presentation of the prize of the magazine "Photoplay" she wore a dress made of gold brocade from the Hollywood designer Bill Travilla, hugging her beautiful body. Her sexuality at this moment was incredible, she just burned those present. At the end of 1953, an issue of Playboy magazine was published, which featured a nude photograph of Marilyn on red velvet. This is the same photo when a very young Marilyn was shot for magazines, including Yankee. The studio was shocked, they demanded that she declare that the photo was not hers, since then puritanical customs reigned in the United States. But Marilyn replied simply that at that moment she needed money, and a beautiful body is all that she has. To which the press treated her with great respect for such a frank and honest answer, and Marilyn's popularity increased even more.

On January 14, 1954, Marilyn married former baseball player Joe DiMaggio, who was the embodiment of the American dream - he played for the Yankees, and was even more famous than Monroe. His big family was something that Marilyn always lacked. At the wedding of his bride, Joe presented a mink coat and a diamond ring made of white gold. They went on a honeymoon trip to Japan. Joe gave her a pearl necklace, he loved her for real and all his life, but they were too different in the manifestation of feelings, besides, Joe was not used to the fact that next to her he loses the attention of others to his person. And jealousy haunted the besieging fans. The marriage broke up - he needed a beautiful wife, and she needed a career. He told reporters: "There is nothing joyful in marriage with electric light." And she told Natasha Lytes that Joe did not read anything except the sports page in the newspaper, that she needed help, and he was not the man from whom she would wait for her.

But as if unexpectedly, after the divorce, her popularity began to fall - the Americans considered her to be guilty of the collapse of the "star" marriage. Marilyn started having nervous breakdowns, she quarreled with Fox and left for New York. She was tired of being “stupid and empty blonde”, She tried to assert herself, even founded her own company. But the press everywhere condemned Marilyn. In 1956, Marilyn became engaged to the famous writer Arthur Miller. For her sake, he divorced his wife, and Marilyn converted to Judaism for him (he was from a Jewish family). When in England Monroe starred in the film "The Prince and the Chorus", which was the first project of her company, Marilyn was very worried that the leading actor and at the same time the director of her choice, Laurence Olivier, did not take her seriously as an actress. The filming was quite difficult, they constantly quarreled. In the end, they hated each other - Olivier was on the verge of a heart attack, and Monroe lost her child (at that time she was pregnant).

The film was a success, but from everything she experienced, Marilyn fell into depression, from which she was saved, as always by work, but unfortunately also by pills. As before, everyone wanted to see her in the role of an empty and stupid blonde, but she wanted to play Grushenka in The Brothers Karamazov.

Monroe starred in the movie "Some Like It Hot" (in our box office "There are only girls in jazz"). For her role in this film, Marilyn Monroe received a Golden Globe Film Award.

The next movie was Let's Make Love. French actor Yves Montand was invited to this film. And they could not resist each other - a passionate romance broke out between them. However, the film ended, the wife of Simone Signoret came for Montana, who, having learned about the incident, returned to France and drank from grief. From her former beauty, only memories were immediately left. Marilyn became depressed again. Miller tried to help his wife - he wrote a script based on his story "The Misfits." Filming began, but Marilyn could not get out of depression. Everyone was depressed, the pills did not help her. Together with the end of filming, their marriage ended. Again, Marilyn had a nervous breakdown, which brought her to the clinic. The faithful DiMaggio helped to get her out of there. He always helped her, even when they were already divorced.

And then, Marilyn became the mistress of John F. Kennedy, she literally lost her head, and thought that Kennedy would divorce Jacqueline, like many of her previous lovers with their wives. She believed in the irresistibility of her feminine charms. Friends warned her not to mess with Kennedy, but unfortunately ... She overshadowed everyone with her beauty when she appeared in a sparkling Swarovski dress, showing every curve of her body, she was invited to the 45th birthday of John F. Kennedy. In the light of the spotlights, her naked body seemed to shine. Kennedy managed, like a real politician, to diplomatically escape the embarrassing situation. But for Marilyn Monroe, this was the last meeting with the president. He was tired of an eccentric, unbalanced woman. John's place was taken by his brother Robert, he became her lover. Since she was absent while filming for John's birthday, she was simply fired. She pleaded with Robert F. Kennedy to help her return, which took a tremendous amount of effort to get the company recruited. But her nerves were at the limit - she disrupted the shooting, took pills all the time, her extraordinary inviting look from her half-down eyelashes had already gone out. There was sadness and despair in his eyes. "Something has to happen" was the title of the film, where Monroe was supposed to appear naked for the first time. But the film did not appear on the screens - on August 5, 1962, all newspapers came out with messages about the death of Marilyn Monroe.

The funeral was organized by her faithful Joe DiMaggio, who suddenly immediately aged twenty years. Arthur Miller did not come to the funeral - he decided to leave in his eyes the image of a living Marilyn. She was escorted by only about thirty people. She was lying on pale yellow silk in a green dress with a bouquet of roses from Joe.

For many Americans, Marilyn has remained a symbol of beauty and youth.
