New York Fashion Week, Spring / Summer 2013

While London Fashion Week is just coming into its own, New York Week has come to its logical conclusion.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York, which took place from September 6 to 13, became as vibrant, motley, turbulent and modern-tech as the city of New York itself.

New technologies surprised the brand Diane von Fustenberg, even in the design of the clothes of its spring-summer collection, it exploited the colors of Google, not even mentioning the technical novelty they presented - Project Glass. Project Glass is augmented reality glasses developed by Google.

3.1 Phillip Lim brought the style of city streets to the catwalk. And Carlos Miele added acidic shades.

The oldest, but at the same time, working model in the world also took to the podium - Carmen Dell Orefis.

Carmen - 81 years old, she has been working as a model since she was 16. She does not hide the fact that she has repeatedly resorted to the help of plastic surgeons. She does not hide the fact that she would like to die right on the catwalk and always in heels.

At New York Fashion Week, Carmen appeared at several shows at once: in a beige dress at the Norisol Ferrari show and barefoot at the show of the collection of the Finnish brand Marimekko.

Celebrities who became famous far beyond the fashion business also demonstrated their collections, for example, the ex-wife of Tom Cruise, actress Katie Holmes, presented her collection as part of New York Fashion Week. Mannequin models stood on white cubes, displaying leather pants and tops, as well as elegant dresses with floral prints.

The wife of British footballer Victoria Beckham presented her new collection to the fashion public. Victoria's collection was dominated by white and black colors, severity of lines, simplicity of forms.

The collection of the Thom Browne brand was filled with an abundance of unusual geometric shapes that made the models look as if they had flown from the rings of Jupiter. Tom Brown himself is today considered one of the most curious designers, of those who, as it sometimes seems, are too rich in imagination.

But the New York Fashion Week was remembered not only by modern technologies and futurism, the designers also turned to painting. Thus, in the collection of Carolina Herrera one could find references to both Suprematism and Art Deco. And Carlos Miele, whom we already mentioned above, drew inspiration from the drawings of his two-year-old son.

And, of course, the irreplaceable and iconic Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of American Vogue, was present at some of the most interesting and significant shows of New York Fashion Week. So, she attended the show of Vera Wong, who in the press has more than once been called the favorite designer of the editor-in-chief of Vogue.
