The history of the Corset and modern girls in corsets.

When does the history of the corset begin? And in general, what is the corset for?

Girl and corset

Corset (French corps - body). And the history of the corset begins in ancient times. It was then that leather belts were worn under chitons and tunics - ribbons on the chest or under the chest, which emphasized the beautiful shape of the figure. Is changing ideal female figure, clothes are changing. These changes are followed by a corset change. But the most serious attitude to the corset appeared in the period of the "Baroque" style - Spanish fashion - XVI-XVII centuries.

Model and corset as an element of clothing

Now, when they remember the history of the corset, it is this period that is perceived as evil and harm, as torture for the body. At the time, the corset was a carapace that deforms the body. But, despite this, such corsets were worn for a long time. A narrow waist and small breasts were in vogue at the time. In the middle of the 17th century, relief comes. Corsets are made from soft fabrics: silk, satin and satin. The emphasized beautiful and lush breasts, thin waist are in fashion again. This is the Rococo era. And the corset also remains the basis of the ladies' dress.

Corset history

The French Revolution brought with it not only freedom and democracy, but also a change in fashion. The corset was not needed, because everyone and in everything should feel free. What's going on? It was the imitation of antiquity, the return to freedom and independence that caused the emergence of the Empire style - an increased waist, which in itself was a support for the chest.

But the history of the corset continues - it is back again - the waist became lower and lower. However, the shape of the corset changed somewhat, thanks to the toilets worn after the French Revolution. The corset has now become in the form of a belt located under the bust, but with straps, i.e. something like a modern bra.

Girls in corsets

Since 1820, the industrial production of corsets begins. And already at the end of the 19th century, one might say, a war against corsets begins.

Doctors have proven its harm to the body of women. But those corsets that were at that time really confirmed this. The king of fashion Paul Poiret took part in this fight against the corset. It is said that he succeeded in this fight thanks to such dancers as Isadora Duncan, Mata Hari. It was they who first showed on stage their flexible beautiful bodies under thin silk. He offered dresses that were shirt-cut and without a corset - the skirt began near the chest and fell to the floor. He created the silhouette that brought him fame and named it "La Vague". His wife Denise was an extremely slender woman and besides, she showed all his models, and therefore the Parisians wanted to look as attractive and graceful as Denise.

Poiret's corset replaces a bra and a suspender belt. By the way, the corset has not been used to support the stockings before. This function was performed by garters, which were ribbons and tied above or below the knee in the form of a bow. In both cases, this detail of the toilet, both for men and women, also had the property of being harmful to health. The legs were tied with garters, and blood circulation was accordingly impaired. So, the corset completely disappeared from women's clothing only after the First World War. During this period, when men were at war, many women had to take their jobs, and the corset, of course, in this case only interfered with free movement. The women felt that they were independent and free both in movement and in life, especially since many of them never received their husbands from the front.

Gothic girls and corsets

Corsets are a popular item of clothing for gothic girls.

Now the corset has again declared its existence. It again becomes a necessary item in the women's toilet. True, there is no harm from it, but on the contrary, rather a benefit.Which exactly? Modern corsets not only give the image uniqueness, but also a sense of grace, harmony, elegance. Corsets are made of satin, jacquard fabric, natural silk, linen, satin, as well as leather, depending on where and when and for what clothes - evening or business, corset is designed. There are no rigid elements in it, no whalebone plates, instead of all this there are light, metal spirals. These spirals are so elastic that they do not press or cause discomfort, but, on the contrary, keep their shape well. A good corset can do the same thing as a medical brace - it supports the internal organs, supports the back and chest. In this corset you will feel slim and attention is guaranteed.
