House Bulgari - Bvlgari and Jewelry

House "Bulgari" (Bvlgari). The house originates from an ancient Greek family, among which there were hereditary silversmiths. Sotirio Bulgari was the youngest of nine children. From an early age, he helped his father, a craftsman in hard work. And when he grew up, in 1884 he decided to move to Italy, where he firmly settled, he opened his own store selling silver and decorative items made of this noble metal. Sotirio soon started a family. Then his grown-up sons, Giorgio and Constantino, like him once, began to help him. It was they who developed the very style that is now perceived in jewelry as Bulgari. Giorgio worked with interest for hours on the cutting of precious stones and their setting. He strove to ensure that the beauty of stones was conveyed with magnificent monumentality against the background of the glitter of gold. And Constantino, along with a passion for ancient Italian traditions, conducted a serious study on the brands of Italian goldsmiths and silversmiths. And all the work done by him formed the basis of the book about Bvlgari.

In the 50s, the company became known all over the world. Then the Bulgari masters introduced their interesting design solutions, which conquered everyone with unexpected and even shocking color combinations. For example, combinations of pink and green or pink and blue sapphires with diamonds, as well as unusual combinations of precious emeralds with spinel or rhodolite. And in the 60s of the last century, the company flourished. It was during this period that the Bulgari jewels were appreciated by Hollywood stars. The company's products appeared not only at social events, but also on the street, thanks to the fact that Bvlgari jewelers introduced not only luxury into their creations, but also, to some extent, an element of play, the absence of a certain seriousness. Paolo and Nicolo, representatives of the third generation of Bulgari, who led the company in the 70s, began to open boutiques one after another outside Italy.

In 1960, Federico Fellini's film La Dolce Vita was released. Nineteen-year-old Nicolo Bulgari was impressed by the scenes from this film. He had an idea - the idea of creating jewelry from coins. A passionate numismatist persuaded his father and uncle, who at that time were in charge of the company, to release products using antique coins. This is how the Monete Bvlgari collection was created. The coins depicted the profiles of the nymphs and wives of the Roman emperors. The frames of the coins were in yellow and rose gold. These were real old silver coins from the personal collection of Nicolo Bulgari. There were several dozen of them. He collected them since childhood, his godfather, the eccentric jeweler Ubaldo Kreschenzi, often presented his godson as gifts, and thus made him addicted to collecting.

It was after this collection that Bulgari began to flourish and take off. “We give a second life to coins, these guests from distant antiquity.” Nicolo gave part of his coins to the masters, and they became elements of jewelry.

Keeping in touch with the times in its craft, the company brings innovative ideas to its classic products. For example, the B. zero1 ring, which was created at the beginning of the last century, is now adorned with multi-colored marble inserts.

By design, Bulgari jewelry follows the traditions of the Italian jewelry school. The craftsmen of the House create rings, earrings, watches and other jewelry according to the technique invented in the 16th century by Benvenuto Cellini. The surface of precious metals is completely covered with precious and semiprecious stones, forming geometric shapes, which are superimposed and intertwined in the varied dance of lines and the brilliance of stones. Another aspect of Bulgari's creativity is the use of color. The jewelry palette consists of a wide variety of stones - red rubies, blue sapphires, green emeralds. They are bought everywhere: in New York, Geneva, Colombo, Bangkok, Colombia, Zambia, Sri Lanka. A characteristic feature of Bulgari products are details such as chains and antique coins. Antiquity and innovative design ideas are combined at the highest level.

The fans of the Bulgari House are the aristocracy of Europe and royal families, whose jewelry collections always contain Bvlgari jewels.

In addition to processing precious stones, the company continues to work with silver - it makes tea sets of extraordinary beauty, produces perfume masterpieces.

The Bvlgari brand guarantees delicate taste and high quality.

Paolo Bulgari, at the age of 80, takes an active part in the creation of jewelry masterpieces. He is sure that stones can speak, you just need to learn to listen to them. Paolo Bulgari takes each piece of jewelry in his hands and "examines" it with closed eyes, as if listening to what the stones are talking about.
