Alberta Ferretti was born into a family of a tailor and spent her early childhood playing in the atelier, cutting and sewing pieces of fabric, following the example of the seamstresses who surrounded her throughout her youth.

When she turned 18, she opened a boutique in the resort town of Katholika, located on the Adriatic coast. In parallel with brands such as Versace, Giorgio armani and Krizia, Alberta Ferretti started selling things of her own design, and soon a whole cult formed around her dresses.

In 1981, she debuted her collection at a show in Milan, and three years later launched a new, somewhat more democratic line, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti.

Initially, she worked on the creation of collections and the development of the brand alone, but then teamed up with her brother Massimo (Massimo Ferretti). Together they created Aeffe, which today produces and distributes collections for brands such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Moschino, Basso & Brooke and Pollini.

In 1998, Italian President Oscar Luigi Scalfaro honored designer Alberta Ferretti with an honorary award for her economic and social contributions to the country's development.

Since 2001, the fashion house Alberta Ferretti has included beachwear, accessories and lingerie in its collections.

In 2009, Alberta Ferretti launched her first fragrance featuring supermodel Claudia Schiffer.

Beloved by Scarlett Johansson and Salma Hayek, Alberta Ferretti's dresses are renowned for their draperies, exquisite crystal décor, fine fabric layering and pleating.
