Fashion bloggers fell short of the fashion industry's hopes


The Wall Street Journal reports that IMG Fashion plans to scale down its run list at the expense of fashion bloggers in order to make room for real industry professionals - buyers, for whom the best show seats should be.


It is not surprising, it is strange that this decision is being made only now, when many shows at fashion weeks have actually turned into a zoo.


In the early days of blogging, there was a lot of hope for fashion bloggers. A lot of people rushed to read blogs, some started blogs themselves, some quickly gained popularity, and at first bloggers wrote with a love of fashion and beauty, without much commercial benefit. Then, at the very beginning, everything was done from the heart, it seemed that everything was just beginning and there was a completely different information world ahead, where ordinary people would make news themselves, and professional journalism would lose its former significance.


Thanks to consumer confidence, fashion blogs have become an attractive tool for advertisers, as a result, bloggers very quickly began to write not about what they really want, but about what they were paid for, as a result of their publication they lost in quality, and their number constant readers began to fall.


In addition, almost none of the bloggers have grown professionally. Many blogs were abandoned, and gradually the influence of bloggers on the consciousness of consumers was lost. Of course, even today there are interesting blogs, but it is already clear to everyone that fashion blogs have not made a revolution in fashion, they will not replace glossy magazines and fashion sites where real industry professionals work.


Although this does not mean that it makes no sense to create a fashion blog now. You can start today, but we must remember that fashion journalism is a constant work, in which there is a place for beauty and glamor, but first of all it is a serious work that must be treated responsibly every day. This is how one should treat a blog, and then the blogger will surely receive an invitation to almost any show.
