Results of "Black Friday" sales in Russia

Last year's Black Friday sales were a big disappointment to many buyers. People were waiting for big discounts, but not all stores met their customers halfway.

We will not recall the names, but some well-known stores offered completely stale goods with discounts, while other stores overstated the original price. Therefore, in 2013, "Black Friday" in Russia did not go well.

What happened in 2014?

Further, the text from the RBC website ...
As a representative of the Blackfriday company told RBC, the sales results have not yet been processed, it is only known that in the first 12 hours of sales, the total traffic of the resource was about 2.5 million people, who bought about 3 thousand items of goods every hour. In 2013, more than 4 million people moved from the platform to the websites of merchants, about 100 thousand requests were converted into real purchases - they brought sellers about 300 million rubles.

According to one of the largest Internet payment operators ChronoPay (clients - Citylink, Mekh, KupiVip, Snezhnaya Koroleva, L'occitane, Panasonic, Yves Rocher, Holodilnik.ru, etc.), this year buyers spent Black Friday is about 67 percent more than a regular weekend in the last three months.

“Growth depended on the size of the company. For example, if on a regular weekend the company showed a turnover of up to 1 million rubles, then during the action it grew by an average of 45%. Large players with a turnover of 2-3 million rubles. growth could reach 90 percent, ”explains Lorex Tsaava, director of the retail department at ChronoPay. According to him, the average check this year amounted to about 3.5 thousand rubles, and the number of transactions compared to last year increased by 19%.

The peak of transactions fell on Saturday - about 40% of all payments within the sale were made on that day, according to ChronoPay.

Last year, online shoppers massively posted screenshots with sale prices online - in fact, they turned out to be higher than the average cost of a product on Yandex.Market. The latest sale turned out to be fairer: in online stores you could find baby products, TVs and smartphones at a better price than the usual price.

For example, the discount on Apple tablets averaged 10-11 percent, and there were very few offers. The new iPhone 6 could be bought on the Ebay online auction on Thursday for 30,849 rubles. - this price was listed on the main page of the Blackfridaysale website. However, due to the fact that the dollar rate has slightly increased since Thursday, on Friday the ruble price has grown to 32,865 rubles.

The biggest discounts - up to 90 prows - were assigned to clothing and accessories. For example, the cheapest dress could be bought for 159 rubles. - at Savage with just a 90% discount.

“Black Friday was successful, we managed to break our own last year's record and double the number of orders,” Niels Tonzen, Chief Executive Officer of Lamoda, told RBC. According to him, conversion increased by about 400 percent. The most popular items were winter coats and down jackets, boots, boots, dresses and sweaters.

KupiVIP CEO Vladimir Kholyaznikov notes that this year the interest in the action turned out to be significantly higher than in 2013: traffic grew by 60 percent, conversion to purchases increased by 20 percent. However, the average check was 5-7% lower than last year's. “Taking into account the current economic situation, this year we provided big discounts compared to 2013, having agreed with suppliers, as well as reducing our mark-up on goods for the promotion,” explains Kolyaznikov. "We did it on purpose, and the average discount on the site was 75 percent without any deception."

A multiple increase in sales was noted by all participants in the action: in Ozon.ru and Svyaznoy.ru they nearly doubled. The Detsky Mir website, which promised discounts of up to 90 percent, received 2.5 times more visitors on the days of sales compared to the usual weekend, and its revenue increased 7 times.

The Savage store recorded a threefold increase in sales and decided to extend the promotion for another week. “When buying outerwear, the average check with a discount was 5–7 thousand rubles, light clothing - 2–3.5 thousand rubles,” a company representative said. At the same time, down jackets were in the highest demand, he added.

Sellers vied with each other to inform buyers about the last opportunity to purchase goods at "pre-crisis" prices: many have already announced that due to the fall of the ruble they will be forced to revise price tags after the new year.

In my opinion, many stores really took into account last year's experience and this time they offered real discounts. In addition, many buyers were attracted by the opportunity to stock up on clothes, shoes and various household appliances at old prices, because very soon not only the iPhone 6, but also washing machines, irons, gas stoves and all other goods will rise in price.

Therefore, a smart buyer is now spending all his money in order to calmly wait out the period of price increases. And this period will surely pass - prices will gradually rise for all goods, along with this, the standard of living will gradually decrease, but then there will be an increase, because the recession cannot continue indefinitely, our whole life and economy also consists of ups and downs, periods of recession and growth ...

Any crisis is not so painful if it is met with large stocks of clothing, electronics and household appliances, with new furniture in a renovated apartment!
