Interview

Nina Okhotina - author of the Ninelly Fashion and Travel Blog

Several years ago, fashion blogs were very popular, and it seemed that very soon they would compete on equal terms with glossy magazines, and someone expressed the idea that blogging was the future of journalism. A little time passed, and it became clear that blogs cannot replace the media and cannot even compete on equal terms. Therefore, this hobby began to lose popularity.

Recently, the girls have abandoned many blogs, some have been deleted altogether, and others have not been updated for a year or more, therefore, when you see a beautiful well-groomed blog, it is interesting to know where its mistress gets her strength and inspiration for such hard work. Today we will ask this and other questions to Nina. Nina has a very bright and cheerful blog, so it’s interesting to know how she did it.

1. Many people think that blogging, especially trendy or food blogging, is elementary, and every girl can handle it, but it is not. I know perfectly well how much effort and time a fashion blog requires. Creation of design, writing of texts, ideas for photo sessions, photo processing and much more. Does someone help you or do you do everything yourself?

I do almost everything myself: layout, design, writing texts, translations into English, coming up with images and ideas for filming. Taking pictures on my own is, of course, difficult, so I ask friends, acquaintances or family members to take pictures for me. I always know exactly what kind of shot I want, so under my careful guidance, what you see now turns out. Once I was shooting for myself on my own (with a tripod and a timer) and before each shot I ran back, assuming different poses, but this is so difficult and unproductive that now I always ask someone.

2. Even the most beloved work consists of pleasant moments, and those things where you have to overcome yourself. For example, some texts are not easy for me, and I can process photos day and night long. And what part of your blog is the most enjoyable and favorite part of your work?

The most enjoyable and favorite is coming up with ideas for new publications. I can flip through pictures on the Internet (references) for hours in order to form an image in my head of what I want to see later in the blog. I think over everything to the smallest detail: the location of the shooting, the time, what kind of props are needed for this, where you can buy / rent or find it, and much more.

In such a creative process, time flies by instantly, and when it comes to the final stage - writing and editing text, my creative nature gives up and texts are given to me with great difficulty. For 4 years of work on the blog, I have already "adapted" a little and even some praise my texts! But I know that they are far from ideal and are given to me with great difficulty.

3. What's your favorite wardrobe item?

Here I can immediately answer - hats! It seems to me even difficult to find photos in the blog where I would not be wearing a hat! I bought them in all colors, styles and styles, so now I can choose a hat for any look! And even after such a variety and full of shelves in my wardrobe, I can't resist buying a new one.

4. Where do you like to shop more - in real stores and shopping centers or on the Internet?

Here it will be difficult for me to choose one thing, because I use the services of both stores in the same way. When I have a little time, I run into some nearest shopping center (I don't have time for trips to a particular store, and I only go to those that are on the road) and start wandering along the hangers, looking at new trends and looking for something. something pretty.

In a different situation - when I need a specific thing, I go to the Internet and study large online clothing stores, I go to the websites of specific stores (most of them now have online catalogs) and of course ebay, where you can find absolutely everything! It's a pity, you just have to wait for several weeks.

5. Everyone has favorite colors and shades. Whenever possible, we try to buy clothes and accessories of our favorite shade, and sometimes even in interiors and household items we strive to have as many favorite colors as possible. What are your favorite colors?

Probably, after graduating from art school, I began to have a completely different attitude to shades and did not divide all colors into my favorite and all the others. Of course, I have a favorite color - purple and all my friends, knowing my love for him, try to give me things in this color. But at the same time, I have almost no purple clothes! I prefer natural tones: beige, gray, and lately I have grown very fond of dark blue or "navy".

In the apartment opposite, everything is done in a white shade, and absolutely! Walls, floor, ceiling, all furniture, bedspreads, and bright accents only in dishes and accessories. This is partly due to the fact that we do not have much daylight, so the house wants as much light and space as possible, which is achieved by white and mirrors.

6. If there was an opportunity to become the owner of any fashion house, which brand would you choose?

I can't even imagine how you can choose from all this beauty! I think I would like to concentrate on one thing, and I would choose the world famous shoe brand Louboutin, but most likely Christian would not trust me with his creation.

7. Do you have a favorite top model or actress who is an example or just inspires you to create new images?

Oh sure. For me, Audrey Hepburn is always a style icon and a source of inspiration. Since childhood, I have watched her films and still reviewing, I find some ideas for myself. Her curvy skirts, gathered at the waist, dark glasses and classic, elegant combinations will never go out of style!

8. Today travel is very popular, many travel just for the sake of new experiences and to boast of a recent vacation in Tahiti, others prefer a rich cultural program, thanks to which from each trip, in addition to shopping and souvenirs, they bring a lot of knowledge. What was the most valuable and interesting trip for you?

I, like no one else, "addicted" to travel. It's just as dangerous with them as with other addictive things: the more you travel, the more you want more! Lately, I've been trying more and more to set aside free time in my insanely busy schedule in order to get out to some new place. It can be a weekend trip to some budget destination or a real adventure on the other side of the world.

Perhaps the brightest and most liked trip for me now is a trip to Montenegro in August. I came across a lot of other people's photographs and felt that I would definitely like this place, but not only was I not mistaken, but I also got into the “top ten” with the choice of this particular country. You can go there quite inexpensively, and at the same time in one place you can immediately meet incredibly beautiful views - mountains, lakes, caves and rivers.

I planned my trip to Montenegro myself, choosing the most beautiful sights and, having rented a car, traveled around them almost all! Separately, I would like to note the friendly people, empty roads and insanely delicious food! So now Montenegro is a truly native place for me, where I will certainly return!

9. Tell us about your dancing activities, you have your own team, right? What directions do you dance in? What does the life of a team consist of?

About a year and a half ago, I decided to organize my own dance group. Before that, for many years I danced all kinds of dance styles, took part in concerts and musicals, and finally decided to do something of my own.At first it was quite difficult, but over time I found girls who, like me, were captivated by the idea of a joint creative process.

We gradually began to stage dances, sew costumes and perform at various events and, after a year of continuous work, we acquired the right to be called the dance group of Moscow State University (I am a graduate of Moscow State University). We stage dances in various directions: from classics and modern choreography to hip-hop and ethnic stylization, we design and sew costumes for them ourselves, organize photo sessions for each of the dances and perform with them at concerts and choreography contests.

10. What books did you manage to read in 2015, and which ones you would like to read in the very near future?

My favorite is travel books right now, so I can't get past the bookshelf with tempting titles of books about different countries. When there is no opportunity to go on a journey, you read a book and move towards adventure in the footsteps of the author.

11. The middle of autumn is approaching, which means there is not much time until the New 2016 year. What are your plans for the New Year holidays, are you going on a trip or would you like to celebrate the holiday at home? And it’s also interesting to know what kind of festive outfit you are planning?

Since the summer I have been planning an incredible trip to Asia for all the holidays, but unfortunately, due to the closure of the Transaero company, my trip was disrupted! So now I'm rather thinking over Plan B, so as not to miss the opportunity to go somewhere for the New Year.

I don't really like to plan my outfits, it is always more important for me to wear what I want at this moment. Isn't this a holiday? So I always choose an outfit right on the 31st: it can be a long evening dress with lace and bright decorations, or a carnival outfit with striped stockings in the style of Alice in Wonderland, and, on the contrary, a warm knitted sweater, woolen socks and a hat with a pompom! Just because at this moment I want to wear it. We will live through the New Year, and I will definitely share my choice with you!

12. Finally, a question regarding the future of the blog. Will there be new headings?

I will open the veil of secrecy and share with you a little secret. I am preparing a new website for the release, so you will know everything soon!
