And this story really begins like that. Anna Sui was born in America on August 4, 1964 in Detroit to Chinese immigrants. Her parents met and got married in Paris when they were students. Then, for some time they lived in Europe, moving from country to country, and finally settled in the United States.

Indeed, from the age of four, Anna told everyone that she wanted to become a designer, as her friend says since kindergarten. But Anna herself does not know exactly where this idea came to her. However, she remembers well that beautiful fabrics attracted her attention, and it seemed to her that it was here in these fabrics that the most extraordinary joyful feeling was hidden, which attracted her.

She loved to go with her mother to choose fabric, and then watch how she sews, collect scraps herself, tinker, fantasize and sew for her dolls. Multicolored patches - are they not returning from Anna's childhood in every image she invented?

Little Anna cut out pages from fashion magazines with the models of clothes she liked, put them in folders and carefully kept them. As a child, Anna learned a lot about Chinese culture from her parents, listened to their interesting stories about the places where they lived. Subsequently, this knowledge was useful to her - they prepared her, brought up in her the courage to work in a foreign country.

Parents did not allow her to paint until she entered high school. But when this happened, Anna gave free rein to her fantasies. Mom was horrified by her experiments. Her own hair also got a lot. Anna dyed blonde, once did chemistry, after which her hair began to fall out.
