Gene Shrimpton - photo and biography

Jean Shrimpton became one of the first supermodels, her peak of popularity came in the 60s. She mainly starred for Vogue, Vanity Fair and Harper's Bazaar magazines. Her style of dress accurately conveyed the spirit of the times, thanks to which she was dubbed the symbol of Swinging London.

Her career was an accident, the girl did not strive to become a famous model. But during one of her shootings, photographer David Bailey entered the studio. A romance began between the young people: she became his muse, and for her sake he left the family and revealed her talent.

By the age of 21, Jean Shrimpton had it all - success in the fashion world, fame and money. Only she did not stay long in modeling business, and already in the early seventies retired. Jin recently admitted that she didn't like absolutely anything in the fashion world.

Jean Shrimpton's image

Gene Shrimpton is that impeccable type of girls who cannot even be envied, because there seems to be nothing earthly about them. Jin had long, thick hair, expressive blue eyes (one photographer noticed that if you shoot her against a blue background, it seems that instead of eyes she has holes that shine through), lush eyelashes, a clear lip line, fragile body and slender legs ...

If you revisit the impressive number of Shrimpton's photographs, you will notice that they have a repetitive facial expression - "a frightened doe." Later, fashion experts slandered that she had delayed leaving the image. But curiously, Shrimpton herself was quite critical of herself. She said that it was enough to wash off the makeup from her, and she would be just awful.

Features of Jean Shrimpton's style

When it comes to models, they were rarely innovators, and if they managed to change fashion, it was by accident. And the Shrimpton case is proof of that. She dressed like everyone else in the 1960s. But in 1965, she showed up at the Melbourne Cup races wearing clothes that seriously violate the dress code.

She was wearing a dress that was 10 cm above the knees. In addition, she was not wearing the stockings, hats and gloves required for an official appearance at the races. Her appearance was discussed as a scandal. So Jin accidentally became the girl who popularized the mini.

If you like the image of Shrimpton and 1960s style, that is, key elements that are easy to reproduce without looking old-fashioned. Choose long-sleeved mini-dresses, straight-cut coats, one-piece short dresses in bright colors (usually a-line), and round collar blouses.

Also try a loose combination of men's and women's clothing, large prints, men's watches. And, of course, try Jean Shrimpton style makeup.
