The new spring-summer 2021 collection was presented as part of Milan Fashion Week. Sicily is once again the inspiration for Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana for their Spring / Summer 2021 collection. The new show is an ode and declaration of love to the homeland of Domenico Dolce, an Italian fashion designer, one of the founders and co-owner of the Dolce & Gabbana fashion house.

The main theme of the collection, which consists of 98 bows, is the Sicilian patchwork. Nearly every look has been crafted from patchwork, a mix of variegated prints and vibrant colors. When creating the images, the Italian duo used their iconic and so recognizable prints of recent years: floral patterns, traditional Sicilian ornaments, leopard, ethnic, graphic and tropical prints, signature pea print (white and red, large and small polka dots), stripes, black and white chess patterns, baroque patterns.



A great deal of similarity can be seen with the looks from the 1993 collection, which in turn was inspired by the bohemian seventies. Both collections contain many details from the seventies, but the new presentation is a more modern interpretation. All products, created by the hands of experienced craftsmen, like a breath of fresh air, personify the joy of waiting for spring and, in general, changes for the better in this difficult time. Inspired by Sicilian patterns, designers created their own interpretation of patchwork, giving us a kaleidoscope of prints and colors made of brocade, georgette, poplin, denim, chiffon, cotton and other materials.



On the catwalk, one could see all the garments, cuts and accessories characteristic of the fashion house: fitted dresses, strict-cut jackets assembled from pieces of brocade, tiered floor-length skirts, long flowing skirts made of light flying chiffon, silk blouses with bows made using the technique patchwork.
