Winter makeup: how to preserve beauty in the cold

In winter, the skin of the face is especially susceptible to harmful external influences - wind, cold, dehydration. After all, if we cover the whole body with clothes, then this cannot be done with the face. Therefore, the skin of the face needs special care - everyone knows this. And you also need to use special decorative cosmetics for every day. And what you used for makeup in the summer is not at all suitable for the winter period. So, what to use for makeup in winter, and what to give up?

Winter decorative cosmetics

The first is leaving!

No amount of decorative cosmetics can mask the imperfections of unkempt skin. Therefore, in the cold season, skin needs to be looked after much more thoroughly than in the off-season. Summer and winter care should be different - this is especially noticeable in our latitudes. Make it a rule to use different products during the warm and cold seasons. Here are some rules for winter care.

  1. Do not cleanse your face with too hot water, so as not to damage the natural protective lipid layer.
  2. Cleansers should also be gentle - soft foams and mousses, not too dense gels.
  3. Lotions and toners should be alcohol-free.
  4. Also, do not abuse micellar water - it usually dries out the skin.
  5. Be careful with scrubs and other facial exfoliators.
  6. The moisturizer for the face needs to be replaced with a denser and thicker one in its texture. It should be nutritious and based on natural oils.
  7. Use intensively nourishing masks twice a week to eliminate flaking and other negative effects of cold and wind.
  8. Ideally, you need to choose a special line of care products marked "winter" or "for the cold season" - they have not only intensely nourishing, but also protective properties.

Decorative cosmetics: what to use in winter and what not?

Now let's talk about what makeup should be in the winter season, and what kind of decorative cosmetics to use.

1. Foundation

In winter, it is necessary to switch to denser tonal textures. But this is not the main secret of beautiful skin and even tone. Be sure to use a makeup base - it's also called a primer. Oil-based bases work well in cold weather. Many oil primers can be used not only as a base for decorative cosmetics, but also as an independent care product.

And the foundation itself must contain oils and be of a sufficiently dense texture. Unlike in summer, when it is enough to apply a light BB or CC cream to the skin, in winter a more reliable layer of protection is needed. The foundation should be thick - this will cover the skin with a fairly dense layer and protect it from frost and wind. To prevent the skin from looking like it is under a layer of "plaster", apply the cream with a damp sponge or beauty blender.

2. Powder

In summer, our skin quickly becomes oily, more sebum is released from high temperatures, and makeup "floats". In winter, it would seem, everything should be the other way around: low air temperature will not allow the visage to blur. But we do not spend all our time on the street, but in heated rooms dense tonal means begin to "melt". Powders for the face will be able to maintain an aesthetic appearance.

Compact powder should not be overused too often; it is better to apply a loose, transparent, mineral-based powder to the skin. It is good if it contains flickering particles or a small shimmer: the skin will shine, and imperfections in the form of peeling will be hidden under this slight shimmer. But if the skin is too dry, feel free to refuse any powder, even if the face starts to shine in warmth. After all, skin health is more expensive!

By the way, you can also refuse blush in winter: frost and cold air will paint a blush on your cheeks anyway! If the skin looks too pale, you can use light golden bronzers with a tan effect, but not too dark, and do not apply them all over the face, but only on the cheeks in the blush zone.

3. Eye makeup

Again, for a fresh and beautiful look, pay more attention to the care and deep hydration of the eyelid skin. For the winter period, it is worth purchasing patches that are nutritious and with natural oils. Use them in the morning to eliminate puffiness and dark circles. The patches help to quickly smooth the skin and moisturize it well. Immediately after applying the patches, apply the eye cream and wait until it is well absorbed.

If you need to correct any imperfections in the form of dark circles, age spots or expression lines around the eyes, use a concealer. But only after patches and deep moisturizing: on smoothed and moisturized skin, the concealer will not clog into folds and fine wrinkles. Instead of the usual shadows for every day, it is quite possible to use a base under the shadow: it is, as a rule, nude or transparent in color, and ideally evens out the skin of the eyelids.

It is enough to add mascara to the base under the shadow, and your daily makeup is ready. You can opt for waterproof mascara to keep your eye makeup from dripping from snow, rain, or watery eyes in the cold. But do not use this mascara every day: it requires thorough rinsing with a two-phase product or micellar water, and subsequent washing. So there is a risk of overdrying the delicate skin of the eyelids even more.

4. Lip makeup

In winter, it is the lips that give us the most trouble. Whatever balms and moisturizing glosses we use, the lips still begin to dry and peel off the fastest. In order to eliminate flaking, you can and should use lip scrubs. But choose not too aggressive textures with small abrasive particles so as not to injure the delicate skin of the lips even more.

Moisturize your lips as often as possible - every time you think about it. Choose rich balms, preferably not in the form of traditional solid hygienic lipsticks, but in the form of thick ointments, supplemented with vitamins A and E in the composition and hyaluronic acid. At home, you can smear your lips with natural oil: olive, almond, peach, even ordinary sunflower oil will do.

Set aside matte lipsticks and gloss until spring and summer - they dry out the skin too much. Choose soft, creamy lipsticks and liquid glossy glosses that even out the skin well. You can safely choose more saturated "autumn" and "winter" lip colors: scarlet, terracotta, burgundy, purple, nude shades of caramel or coffee with milk.
