Photographer Georgy Goiningen-Guehne

Baron Georgy Goiningen-Hüne (1900-1968) was born in St. Petersburg into the family of a Russian officer and the daughter of an American ambassador. After the revolution of 1917 he went to London. In 1921 - to Paris. From 1919 to 1921 he was General Briggs' translator in Istanbul. In Paris, Georgy begins photographing while helping his two sisters, who have become fashion designers. And success awaited him in photography. By the mid-1920s, he became the main photographer of French Vogue. In the 1930s, he moved to the United States, where he worked for Harper Bazaar. Georgi Goiningen-Hüne was one of the leading fashion photographers of his time, his model, and then a student in the future, was the no less famous fashion photographer Horst (Horst P. Horst).

After World War II, Georgy Goiningen-Hüne ceases to be engaged in fashion photography, he moves to Hollywood, where he works as a lighting consultant, and also teaches photography.

Georgy Goiningen-Hüne is also famous for his albums created in the 1940s in collaboration with a famous archaeologist. The albums were dedicated to the history and culture of the ancient civilizations of Mexico, Egypt, Greece.
