Fall-Winter 2012/2013 collections from London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week ended on February 22nd. As well as in NYC, London-based designers presented a collection for the upcoming fall-winter 2012/2013 season. And either it seemed to me, or it was so, but old London turned out to be more colorful than the young and dynamic New York. Yes, the same black and gray colors prevailed on the catwalks, there was the notorious orange, there was also blue, sometimes in an unexpected combination with red, in fact, London designers were certainly not afraid to experiment with color combinations.

Let's talk about some of the collections. And let's start with Burberry, whose collection represented both jackets (and men are encouraged to wear short jackets over jackets) and trench coats, mostly in calm gray and brown colors, which designer Christopher Bailey diluted with large pockets, as well as belts with bows in bright colors - yellow orange. The Burberry collection contained bulky bags, caps, and striped midi skirts, with a hint of a certain rustic style, however, the collection itself evoked associations with something cozy and, undoubtedly, associated with horses, dogs, hunting and recreation. in an English village, where you may have your own castle.

Jean-Pierre, Basso and Brooke

However, as already mentioned, the London collections were varied in color, so the Jean-Pierre collection featured many different shades of blue and lilac, the Basso and Brooke collection used variegated fabrics with a combination of different colors, they also suggest wearing over dresses made of light fabrics coarser and warmer sweaters. But the most striking, perhaps, was the Clements Ribeiro collection, which presented both wide belts, and geometrically diverse color combinations - a blue plaid skirt, a green-blue jacket, black leggings and pink shoes, oh yes, I completely forgot, black gloves, this is the color madness presented on the catwalk by Clements Ribeiro. In fact, they also had an abundance of pink. Gloves, leggings and wide belts have become an obligatory component of all models of their collection. But there were also combinations that were calmer, for example, gray with black or white with the same black.

House of Holland also did not lag behind Clements Ribeiro and demonstrated on the catwalk the brightest combination of red with blue and less bright combinations of blue with yellow, purple and lilac against this background. They also demonstrated several very bright dresses that certainly embodied the rainbow, one of them based on blue with the addition of scalloped stripes of red, naked, pink, yellow, the other, for example, based on red. But House of Holland's furs could not be left alone, adding stripes of red to the black. In general, their collection screamed with an outstripping, slightly artificial for the eye, brightness of colors.

But if House of Holland was based on red and blue, then Kinder Aggugini was carried away by all shades of green, there were dark green jackets and lighter dresses, and strange combinations of monophonic sweaters with short skirts with patterns. However, in addition to green, dark blue, blue and black were also presented.

And here Vivienne westwood in her autumn-winter collection she demonstrated a combination of red tights with short denim shorts, red long boots with a delicate dress and a thin belt in the color of the boots, and an orange dress, which was presented in combination with the same color stockings. But her collection also contained quieter, almost classic options - a black knee-length dress with a thin belt, a combination of a white blouse with a gray skirt, here you just had to be more careful and look at the legs, on which patterned tights appeared. The combination of red tights with a white coat and a completely "grandmother's" kerchief on her head was also unexpected.

Richard Nicoll in his collection, on the other hand, went deep into monotony - white suits, gray, yellow and orange dresses, completely free-straight without unnecessary details.

The Louise Gray collection impressed with its huge mohawk hairstyles. And McQ put on the heads of their models hairstyles like flying saucers. The coats and dresses presented by them necessarily expanded from top to bottom, having an x-shaped silhouette, and they also did not do without belts.

The Giles collection could be incredibly delicate and beautifully romantic, so a long and lush dress, white with stains or even the color of cappuccino foam, was very beautiful. But then English eccentricity intervened and models appeared on the catwalk in strange "mask-hats" on their heads or in a black vest over a white men's shirt and with a delicate wide skirt, black tights and pink shoes on their feet.

In general, London Fashion Week turned out to be brighter, in contrast to New York, and more daring in the combination of colors. There was less black in London, but gray and blue were present as well as in New York. Not without orange. Many designers added belts to their models, often wide, and more often in bright colors, bright shoes also appeared on the catwalks more than once - the same red boots from Vivienne Westwood, there were also bright tights and leggings, gloves also gravitated towards bright colors. Skirts were often short or midi, but dresses were both short and longer. In general, London, like New York, was characterized by simplicity and elegance, although a little with the addition of English eccentricity and a peculiar English style, the style of closed and strict private schools with a peculiar uniform, as well as village hunting.
