Fashion illustrations by Tanya Ling

Tanya Ling is a fashion illustrator whose work, like the work of the famous David Downton, has repeatedly appeared on the pages of Vogue magazine.

Tanya Ling's works are watercolors, flowing, delicate, sometimes bright, sometimes with irregular faces and figures, as if drawn by children.

Tanya Ling is Indian and was born in Calcutta in 1966. She spent her childhood on three continents at once: as a child, Tanya managed to live in Africa, and in America, and in Europe (England).

Tanya Ling originally intended to become a designer. She received her education in a real forge of talents of the world fashion industry - St. Martin School of Arts, where she studied fashion and textile design. And after graduation (it was in 1989) she went to Paris, where she worked as a designer for brands such as Christian Lacroix and Dorothee Bis. Dorothee Bis is a brand founded by spouses Eli and Jacqueline Jacobson in the 1950s. Today Dorothee Bis is a chain of stores selling mass and fashionable clothes, following all the latest fashion trends. This brand is also engaged in the production of perfumery. By the way, the well-known one worked as a designer for Dorothee Bis for some time Karl Lagerfeld.

However, soon Tanya Ling returned to London and began to study drawing and fashion illustration. Together with her husband William Ling (sculptor and gallery owner), she is working on a project in the field of contemporary art, and then there will be her first solo exhibition, in which the work of Tani Ling was noticed by representatives of the British version of Vogue magazine. This is how the artist received her first commission.

Today, among the clients (those for whom Tanya Ling worked) are such glossy magazines as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Elle. She also worked for Louis vuitton and for the famous London department store Harrods.

In 2002, Tanya Ling briefly returned to design, and it was in this year that her first ready-to-wear collection was presented. Tanya Ling's collection is housed in the windows of the Henri Bendel store on New York's 5th Avenue, where it was soon sold. In 2003, The Observer Magazine named Tanya Ling Designer of the Year, and her Fall / Winter 2003 collection will be shown at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London.

The works of fashion illustrator Tanya Ling have appeared on the pages of many glossy magazines and newspapers. Her work can also be found in Kelly Blackman's 100 Years of Fashion Illustration, a book that contains 400 works by the best fashion illustrators of the 20th century. And in 2011, about 50 drawings by Tanya Ling were acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Tanya Ling also more than once, thanks to the efforts of British Vogue, received the "title" of the main trendsetter (trendsetter), that is, the recognition that with the help of her drawings she not only reflects fashion, but is also able to influence it.

Tanya Ling's daughter Bip (Bipasha) Ling followed in her mother's footsteps, namely, becoming the heroine of fashionable chronicles in London. Bip is a DJ, London hipster style icon, model and fashion blogger (Bipling.com). Her blog is as vibrant and her attitude to fashion is as childlike as her mother's watercolors. “Fashion is fun,” says Bip Ling in an interview with Vogue magazine. "People who take her seriously don't give me any feelings other than sadness." And, for some reason, it seems that her view of fashion completely coincides with the look of her mother, conveyed through her watercolors.
