Fur coats and the history of the House of Fendi

Most of the fashion houses in France have long ceased to be family businesses. Unfortunately, the fashion designers who once founded their houses in the fashion capital of Paris have left no worthy heirs. Alas. But Italy can boast of the fact that here the family business is developing in many areas. Apparently, initially nepotism, support in business, in the blood of the Italians. Although there are melodramas with sad endings - Gucci House, whose family business has fallen into disrepair due to incessant strife. Gucci is now one of the most successful companies, but it does not belong to the Gucci family.

However, there are stories that can be told about how wonderful family feelings and entrepreneurial flair can combine. The story of the Fendi family is a prime example of this.

In 1925, a young couple Eduardo and Adele Fendi opened a small shop selling leather and fur products. After the war, they founded a fashion house specializing in fur. Adele and Eduardo did everything themselves - they bought skins, came up with new models. There were also assistants - five daughters: Anna, Alda, Paola, Karla and Franca. At that time, the fur coats that they made were not distinguished by sophistication in comparison with those that are now produced by the fashion house Fendi. It's not even that experience and opportunities have grown over time. It's just that at that time the main requirements for a fur coat were quality, warmth, practicality.

And then Eduardo fell seriously ill, and Adele had to manage all the affairs alone. The family continued to work, the girls grew up, and more and more took part in the family business. In 1965, the youngest Karla and Adele create their first famous model - an elegant, lightweight fur coat. It was with her that the ascent of the shining star Fendi began. Then, in 1965, the sisters invite Karl Lagerfeld, who to this day remains the permanent designer of the Fendi women's line.

For more than 40 years, they have together created fur coats that every woman dreams of buying, regardless of age. Once young Adele and Eduardo sold inexpensive fur capes, but now Fendi fur coats of extraordinary beauty cost up to 100 thousand dollars. They create collections of chinchilla, mink, squirrel, sable. You will wear Italian Fendi fur coats for years. This has been proven by many in practice. What is the secret of such extraordinary success? Apparently, in the quality of fur processing, or in the secrets of tailoring, or maybe in unique design ideas that allow you to combine beauty and warmth? Yes, and the quality, and processing of fur, and tailoring exceed many world standards. But, as you know, Italian craftsmen know how to keep secrets and not only the creation of fur products. This has been known since the days of the Medici. And the main thing is that in painstaking work from day to day, and of course, a family in which respect for each other reigns, continuity is valued.
