Istria cross stitch and the best products in pictures

Cross stitch is the most widespread embroidery throughout Europe and for many centuries. Initially, it appeared in Byzantium, then gradually moved to Italy, and then to all European countries. The most flourishing of cross stitching occurred in the 16th century, then there were mainly strict ancient German patterns on linen. At the end of the 16th century, then in the 17th and 18th centuries, the fashion for strict patterns passed. They were replaced by patterns enriched with flora, lush ornaments, where there were many bright colors. Drawings appeared that had their own peculiarities in different countries. Threads were used in a wide variety of colors, especially the red color of the thread on white linen.

Cross-stitch

The popularity of this embroidery continues to grow. We can say that this embroidery has always been in vogue, there were simply periods of some lull, when embroidery generally faded into the background. But there were times when everywhere and everywhere you could find embroidery, and especially the beloved, accessible, understandable cross stitch. Once for girls in Soviet schools, home economics began with cross-stitch embroidery. There were, and even now, there are special stencils - paintings made on fabric, on which - take a hoop, thread and a needle - and start embroidering. This work is especially pleasant and entertaining on cold winter evenings by the fireplace or with children. If there is a stencil picture on paper, then the work will be somewhat more difficult, you have to count. Pick a plain weave fabric, pick up threads in the appropriate colors, and get started. You can use a canvas on the main fabric - a special fabric that is sewn on top of the main one. The choice of thread depends on the thickness of the fabric you are embroidering on. There are several options for cross stitching, but their difference can be seen on the seamy side, and the cross is the same on the front of the fabric. When embroidering with a cross, it is better not to make knots to secure the thread, they can come out on the front side, and in general, it will be sloppy embroidery. Each embroiderer has her own way of securing the thread. For example, at the beginning of sewing, the thread can be looped in with a small loop, or a slightly elongated end can be left, which will then be secured with other stitches during the sewing process.
