In a Jewish family in 1945, a victorious year for the Soviet Union, on March 8, a girl was born, who was named Sofia. Her parents met during the war in a partisan detachment in the forests of Belarus. Until her 15 years, she lived with them and with her sister in the Soviet Union. The time was post-war, difficult for many people of the country. It was painful to look at the destroyed native land, at the numerous trenches and trenches, the graves of unknown soldiers ... But everyone lived with joy - we won, we defended our country. Such childhood memories often came up in Sophia's mind. And later she realized that the difficulties and joys experienced by the people in the Soviet Union tempered her, taught her to love and appreciate life, to see the beauty that surrounds us.

Then the family emigrated to Poland, then in 1965 to the United States. Having received the education of a chemist, she dreamed of finding a job somewhere in order to provide for herself and her parents. And although she did not dream of perfumery, it so happened that her first steps in the labor field began as an assistant to Ellie Fox at IFF. Like any chemist or physicist, Sofia loved to set up experiments, so from time to time she tried to compose her compositions out of pure curiosity, since she always had the raw materials that she needed at hand. However, these experiments were so successful that the famous perfumer Ernst Shiftan drew attention to it. And for the perfume "Paris" by Yves Saint Laurent, it was the scent created by Sophia that was chosen.

At that time, the company was led by Josephine Catapano, who, like Sofia, had no perfumer education, but had an unusually subtle sense of smell and intuition, which helped her create perfume masterpieces. It was she who had a great influence on Sofia. The patronage of Josephine Catapano and the hard work of Sofia helped her to become one of the IFF perfumers. And soon they started talking about her successes, and Sofia Groisman was awarded the Cosmetics Executive Achieve Award - an award for outstanding achievements in perfumery.
