Designer Robert Piguet and perfumery Robert Piguet

Robert Piguet was born in 1901 in Switzerland. He was a talented and versatile child. The father, a politician and financier, believed that his son must certainly continue the family business. But Robert saw his destiny in another profession, he decided to devote himself to the art of design. And when he was not yet 19 years old, he went to the capital of fashion - Paris. Robert was absolutely sure that his dream would come true, because his main character trait was perseverance.

His studies began successfully, he studied with the English couturier John Redfern, who was the tailor of Queen Victoria herself, and then with the famous Parisian fashion designer Paul Poiret. Redfern had an exceptional ability to scrupulously work out the smallest details of his models, and Paul Poiret had a unique imagination. The knowledge that Piguet received from such celebrities helped him create his own individual approach to design art, and thanks to perseverance, he went to achieve this goal.

In 1933, Robert Piguet founded his own clothing brand. By that time, he already had students who later became celebrities and proudly called the name of their teacher. These students were the Spanish designer Antonio Castillo and Christian Dior, American designer James Galanos and Hubert de Givenchy, French fashion designers Serge Guerin and Marc Bohan, Pierre Balmain and many others…

Exquisite perfumery by Robert Piguet

Robert Piguet has run his Fashion House for 20 years, which has since grown to become one of the most successful design brands. His models, refined and elegant, were quickly appreciated by the bohemian elite, among whom were outstanding actors, artists and writers - the legendary singer Edith Piaf, artist, director and writer Jean Cocteau, film and theater actress Michelle Morgan, writer Gabrielle Colette. Each creation of the designer is a reflection of his graceful simplicity and elegance. For Edith Piaf, he created a little black dress, which to this day is an integral part of women's wardrobe. His close friends were Jean Cocteau, Gabriel Colette, and film actor Jean Marais.

It was Piguet who came up with the idea to divide women's wardrobe into three important components - morning, afternoon and evening. In various versions, he turned this idea into reality. Robert Piguet presented morning, afternoon and evening gowns in endless charm and refined grace. In his shop, a lady could choose a set on the theme of morning and afternoon dress. And evening dresses with impeccable taste and cut delighted the visitors of his salon.

Designer Robert Piguet

Robert Piguet has always adhered to the principles of simplicity, thanks to which his outfits are the embodiment of elegance and sophistication. They contain the impeccable taste of the designer. For many of those who study the history of fashion, the question still remains - who created the little black dress? - Coco Chanel or Robert Piguet? Many argue that the creator of the legendary dress was Robert Piguet, and Coco managed to bring it on her own shoulders to all walks of life.

Aristocratic and delicate, a connoisseur of literature and painting, Robert Piguet gained popularity by the 40s, which allowed him to create a new luxurious salon. The designer opens a fashion salon called Rond Point on the famous Champs Elysees. The salon has become an iconic place for great celebrities and renowned actors. From that moment on, Robert Piguet began to create, in addition to outfits for ladies of high society, beautiful costumes for theater and cinema.
