"My era has become my guide." These words reflect the work of Marcel Roche. As a young couturier, in a tumultuous decade of crazy parties, Marcel Rocha decided to take a bold step - to revise the codes of elegance.

Marcel Rocha was born in 1902, and when he was just over 18, he opened his own couture house. Thanks to the designer, women since 1925 are again turning to daring and sexy clothes. They emphasize grace and beauty, slender hips and a thin waist. Silk, lace and crepe become the main fabrics in Marseille's work. In 1932, he already settled in one of the chic quarters in Paris. Avenue Matignon will be his first perfume in 1936.



First you need to "breathe" a woman, and then see her "- the couturier liked to repeat. His imagination was limitless - the variety of models delighted the audience. Marcel Rocha achieved overwhelming success in the United States, where he became a favorite designer among movie stars. The couturier was dressed by Joan Crawford, Catherine Hepburn, Jane Harlow, Marlene Dietrich. But his most beloved muse was the gorgeous blonde, confident in her attractiveness and inspiring the designer, Mae West. It was for her that he invented super-erotic underwear - black guipure.




In 1944 the famous perfumer Edmond Roudnitska creates a wonderful composition for Marcel Roche - a chypre scent with fruity notes, combining the scent of peach and plum with white flowers, in a cloud of musk, amber and sandalwood. The fragrance was so beautiful that it was originally produced only for individual orders, since at that time of war, not everyone could afford an expensive perfume.

In the same year, Marcel Rocha marries a very beautiful young woman, to whom he dedicates this perfume. Perfume with a simple name - "Femme" - Woman. Hélène Rocha has become a worthy owner of a luxurious perfume. Fragrance in a faceted bottle in the form crystal amphorae Lalique sold only to a select circle of women, among whom were the duchess, viscountess and baroness. The rest of the women came only a year later.



The composition of the fragrance "Femme Rochas" contains apricot, plum, cinnamon, peach, bergamot, rosewood and lemon. The heart notes are spicy notes of rosemary, carnation, a bouquet of iris flowers, jasmine, carnation, fragrant and rich ylang-ylang and a luxurious rose. The base notes have a final accord of sensual notes of leather, amber, patchouli, musk, benzoin, vanilla and oakmoss.





Then the luxurious fragrances were created - Mousseline, La Rose, Mustache... The success of Roche's perfumery was so great that Marcel Rocha stopped making clothes and decided to implement new ideas related to perfumery. But in 1953 he dies suddenly.

Hélène Rocha replaces him, continuing the work he has begun. In 1960, the company launched the Madame Rochas perfume. The fragrance was named after Hélène Roche and was created by the then famous perfumer Guy Robert. The composition of the fragrance belongs to the floral-aldehyde, in which the waltz of white flowers sounds. Helene loved the scents of white flowers, especially jasmine, tuberose and daffodil. These flowers were often found in other compositions as well.

The perfume bottle was made of Baccarat crystal - in the form of a vase. The release of these perfumes was timed to coincide with the opening of the art exhibition "Women's Portraits". All Paris enthusiastically greeted the new fragrance.Madame Rochas has become a huge international success and has made Hélène Rocha a recognized professional.



In 1965, her name became one of the most elegant women in the world, she received the title of Perfume Queen. In 1969, Guy Robert creates Monsieur Rochas. Then were created "Mystere de Rochas" (1978), "Macassar" (1980), "Lumiere" (1984), "Byzance" (1987), Eau de Rochas Pour Homme (1993), "Tocade" (1994). Tocade is the latest perfume. It was a feminine scent based on a combination of rose, vanilla and amber.

Many of the fragrances, including "Madame Rochas" and "Femme" have been released in a new version, taking into account the construction of modern perfumes. But all the richness of the compositions of the early releases has been preserved.

However, today the company founded by Marcel Rocha still delights us not only with new perfume creations, but also with clothes.
