Truacar or dress-coat

Many women have clothes in their wardrobe that are called differently - dress-coat, jacket-coat, there may be other names, but in fact these clothes are called "truacar", which in French means "three quarters" ... This is an elegant piece of clothing that looks like a short coat or a long jacket.

By the way, "truacar" can mean not only the clothes that were just talked about, but also the length of any piece of clothing, for example, a "three-quarter" sleeve, and in general this term is used today in many cases. We will not consider all cases, but only talk about clothes.

Truacard - history

Fashion historians believe that truacars became fashionable in the 1930s. The jacket, both long and short, of course, was already there before. Therefore, not everything is so simple in history. The costume, consisting of a blouse, skirt and jacket, appeared in its original form around 1890. And it took root well in the ladies' wardrobe due to its practicality.

The jackets resembled men's tailcoats, to which pockets were added. At the end of the 19th century, rather short coats were worn, which differed little from long suit jackets. So something similar to those truacars that appeared later was already observed in the women's wardrobe.

In the 30s, ladies wore lightweight coats three-quarters long made of different fabrics. Wool and fine cloth were especially appreciated, for evening dresses - silk, lace, panne velvet and velvet... If a lady wore a trouacar during the day, it meant that she was planning an evening meeting. Fashion historians claim that it was Coco Chanel who sewed to her clients and wore a long jacket with patch pockets herself. Yes, that is so, or rather, her jacket was a semblance of those elegant trouacars worn by the ladies of the 30s.

Modern fashion designers have been successfully interpreting the truacars of the 30s for decades. And stepping into a new century, into the 21st century, we see the truacar again. And although many of us have forgotten or did not know its name, we still like the three-quarter coat.

There are models of brocade, silk, satin, thin leather, and even chiffon, but the most practical are cotton or woolen truacars.

What to wear with truacars

They look good with trousers, skirts, dresses, and even shorts. Truacars can be plain or with a bright print. There are many cut options, but the most classic is a truacar with a straight silhouette and a rounded collar. A truacar can have any sleeve length. The choice of color depends on the color scheme of your outfit.

Stiletto heels, ankle boots, sandals look gorgeous as shoes. It all depends on your main outfit though. If you are wearing shorts, sandals, ballet flats, or even flip flops will do.

You should be careful when adding accessories to your ensemble. Stylists believe that truacar is the thing that is significant enough in itself. Therefore, if you are not sure about your taste, complement the look with a silk scarf.

Summer truacar in modern fashion at the peak of popularity. This thing will serve as a great addition to a cocktail dress in cool evening weather. If the truacar also has a three-quarter sleeve, it is better to choose long gloves for it, since the sleeves of other clothes, falling below the sleeves of the truacar, simplify the image. This option is, of course, for the fall. A round neckline and the absence of a collar do not always require a neckerchief; here you can choose a necklace or a brooch.

If you want to accentuate your waist, wear a belt or leather belt. In this case, the cut of the truacar should be close to the fitted long jacket.

You can look attractive and stylish in a truacare if all the items of your ensemble are chosen correctly. And as for the age or figure - there are no restrictions if the truacar has a straight cut.
