Interview

Spanish fashion and fashion blogger Raya

Today we will talk about Spanish fashion, the features of which will be told by the Russian-speaking fashion blogger from Spain Raya, better known as fashionofspain. In addition to her own blog dedicated to Spain: leisure, shopping, shopping and fashion, she is also the organizer and caretaker of the style_community community in LJ (a well-known resource in Runet that serves to host their own blogs), in which everyone can share their thoughts on fashion and style and also find like-minded people who, like you, will also be interested in fashion, design and style.

1.What, in your opinion, is the peculiarity of Spanish fashion?

Oh, I don't even know how, from which side it is better to describe it-)
When it comes to street fashion, then, as in most European cities, everything is very casual. Young people walk around in a lot, mostly inexpensive jeans, T-shirts and sneakers.

But the older the age of the Spanish public - the more interesting-). Spanish seniors deserve special attention: always with careful styling (hairdresser once a week), elegantly dressed, and in heels even at the most respectable age, for example, over 80.

Runway fashion also has its own characteristics: for a long time, Spanish designers focused on their French and Italian colleagues, and as a result, they developed their own unique mix with a bias towards quality and convenience.

2. Please tell me which Spanish designers are popular in the world and which are popular in Spain?

As, probably, and in most cases with popular designers, in order to gain worldwide popularity, you need to change your place of residence (go to Paris or New York).
This was the case with Balenciaga, Paco Rabanne, Manolo Blahnik (native of the Canary Islands).

I would also like to mention one of my favorite contemporary designers, Angel Schlesser from Madrid.
Among the most popular among Spanish women, I will probably note my Catalan neighbors Tous: their boutiques are usually always crowded, no matter what crises. Moreover, their internal popularity coincides with the international one. But in the case of Toes, we are not talking about a specific designer, there is a family company with a common name.

3.Fashion life in Spain, what is it like? What beauty contests exist, what gloss is read, what events are generally held in the field of fashion?

Beauty contests are held, but it seems to me that they are not so popular.
Gloss, in our era of globalization, is also quite unified: Vogue, Glamor, Cosmo, etc. Magazines often sell with a bunch of gifts and advertisements, and instead of a magazine, they resemble a weighty display case.
One of the most popular is Hola (an analogue of the American Hello), it is the details and gossip from the life of celebrities. Opinar (give an opinion): This is the national sport-).
Of course, the number one fashion event is Madrid Fashion Week (Pasarela Cibeles), held in February and September, attracting a large number of international names and young and talented designers. The next fashion week, by the way, will begin very soon, on February 18th.

4.Zara is probably one of the most popular brands in Spain, what is the attitude of the Spaniards themselves to clothes from Zara?

Oh, the Zara phenomenon, of course, began with the domestic market. Here this brand is number 1, and there are always queues in the fitting room and at the checkout.

5. Besides the blog dedicated to Spain and fashion from Spain, you are also the creator of a community about style and fashion. Who do you think is the main audience of this community, who actively writes to it, and who reads?

We conceived our Style_Community together with Anais-et-Chloe as a place where anyone can ask any question about fashion. But as a result, the community took on a life of its own, and took the form of more of a fashion magazine - where the latest trends and style are discussed not only on the street and catwalks, but also in music, decor and cinema.
We are open to everyone, and we have practically no moderation, as we have gathered an extremely intelligent and polite audience. We only remove ads.

In a little over a year, we have almost 800 blogger subscribers and up to 2000 daily visitors.

6. You write about Spain, but you are a Russian-speaking blogger, and what is your attitude to Russian fashion, maybe you can single out some event or designer that you are interested in?

I really like Alena Akhmadullina, at least what I see on the Internet. Unfortunately, I have no honor to own items from her collections, but I hope that it is not evening yet, and someday I will wander into her boutique-).

I also read with interest the LJ blog of Dasha Gauser, I especially like her bags and accessories.

Well, briefly about me and that's it!
