Childhood Fashion: Collaborations of Famous Brands with Cartoons

The favorite character of many brands turned out to be the legendary Disney mouse - Mickey Mouse, but not without the cult Simpsons and, even, the heroes of Soviet cartoons.

"We all come from childhood." Most often, we are used to hearing this phrase at the reception of a psychologist, but lately it seems that it has been adopted by the fashion world.

Now the word "collaboration" in the fashion business is no longer surprising. Various types of cooperation in the industry have become so popular that even the association of luxury fashion giants with local streetwear brands is already common for all of us.

Several years ago, well-known brands took on the goal of "revitalizing" painting, and one by one they created hit collaborations with artists, using entire paintings as conditional prints for items from their new collections. Now, it seems that brands have decided to "bring back to life" and cartoons, which, moreover, are still selling so well.

The phrase “Will you still miss school”, once heard from teachers, could now be called the fashionable word “insight”. I don’t know about school, but for childhood and carefree times, nostalgia at some point appears in everyone. Most likely, this is why we thank the trends for the opportunity to wear beaded bracelets, bright plastic rings and T-shirts with Donald Duck, and at the same time look not like a big child who has fallen into childhood, but a stylish person.

It is really difficult to count how many brands have recently released clothes, on which frames of our favorite animated films flaunted, but we will try to remind you of the most striking examples of such collaborations:

Gucci x disney

Disney holds the absolute record for collaborations with a wide variety of fashion brands, from luxury giants to local streetwear. There were plenty of people willing to get Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and, by the way, many succeeded. Gucci X Disney remains one of the most famous and striking such collaborations to this day. Such cooperation, to put it mildly, surprised many, but it must be admitted that the capsule collection, designed by Alessandro Michele, turned out to be very organic. It includes sneakers, sneakers, hoodies, T-shirts, bags and accessories that combine both the brand's monogram and pictures of our favorite cartoon characters.

Givenchy x disney

Givenchy was another brand that got its hands on Disney characters, only, unlike Gucci, they were targeting not Mickey Mouse, but the less popular, but by no means less beloved by everyone, Bambi.

In 2013, the show of the autumn-winter collection was held, the designer of which was Riccardo Tisci, who at that time was the head of the fashion house. As Tisci admitted, creating a new collection, he was inspired by the cult Givenchy codes, and also used his personal archives. It is worth admitting, despite the fact that cartoon characters flaunted on the clothes, the collection turned out to be in the spirit of glam rock and romantic gothic, which is quite consistent with the style of Riccardo Tisci.

Following other eminent brands in the Disney network, Marc Jacobs was caught. The collection based on the mysterious fairy tale "Alice in Wonderland" became a farewell for the brand, and it looks like they decided to say goodbye on a beautiful note.

We relied on accessories that are so necessary for everyone, especially in our time. The capsule collection includes bags, backpacks, wallets, iPhone cases, as well as T-shirts, skirts and sweatshirts with colorful images of Alice herself, the Cheshire cat, the magic garden and talking flowers. By the way, the designer of this collection was Marc Jacobs himself.

In 2013, popular streetwear brand Converse made a gift to fans of The Simpsons and became the first to collaborate with the iconic animated series. The new collection includes sneakers depicting the heroes of the famous yellow family - Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. The special atmosphere of the shoes was added by the fact that each pair was complemented by the signature recognizable phrases of the characters, which, in fact, delighted all Simpsons fans and ensured the success of the collaboration. It should be added that the sneakers were presented in all sizes - from children to adults.

Puma X Soyuzmultfilm

The German sports brand seems to have been inspired by the beloved Soviet cartoons.

The limited collection is completely dedicated to the cartoons "Winnie the Pooh" and "Well, you wait!", Made on the basis of the Soyuzmultfilm film studio. Puma designers created two pairs of suede sneakers from the iconic Suede model, on which the heroes familiar to everyone from childhood appeared. On a black and yellow pair, Winnie the Pooh and his comrade Piglet flaunted, and on the sides was a phrase from the cartoon: "The Wrong Bees." The second pair was performed in blue and white, the backdrops bore the words "hare" and "wolf", and on the sides one could see illustrations from the cartoon "Well, wait a minute!"
