rose scent

It was this beautiful flower that was the favorite flower of the inhabitants of the East, and many legends are associated with it. For example, Saadi's wonderful poetic work "Gulistan", which means "rose garden".
Hafiz chants the queen of flowers:

I went out at dawn to pick roses in the garden,
And the trill of the nightingale heard the sequence;

Unhappy, like me, sick with love for a rose,
And on the lawn he mourned the misfortune.

I used to walk on that lawn often;
I look at the rose, at the nightingale and wait ...

Rose and essential oils - a bit of history

The rose was worshiped - even coins are found with the image of a rose. And temples in Greece and Rome were surrounded by luxurious rose gardens. Roses not only adorned their homes, but also used their scent as having aphrodisiac properties. When they did not yet know how to extract essential oil from plants, women took a bath of rose petals for hours before meeting their lover.

The queen of flowers rose is a symbol of the goddess of beauty Aphrodite. She was brought from the East to Ancient Greece. The Greeks decorated wedding ceremonies with her petals; these flowers were always present in festive decorations.

At the feasts of the Romans, each guest was to be crowned with a wreath of roses, and not only guests, but everything around was wrapped in garlands of roses, and the floor was strewn with rose petals. It was a truly barbaric extermination of the royal flowers. The patricians revel in the scent of roses - and it came to the point that going on a walk in the galleys, even the surface of the sea was strewn with rose petals. The ugly extermination of roses once ended with the fact that at one of the feasts the guests were pelted with rose petals falling from the ceiling, and some of the guests, to the great delight of Emperor Heliobalus, suffocated. The emperors bathed in wine from roses. All the streets of Rome were so saturated with the scent of roses that some even felt sick. Yes, in everything, even in the most beautiful, one must know and have a sense of proportion. "While Rome was the Rome of heroes, it prospered, as soon as it ceased to honor the values that gave rise to it, and he died." - André Maurois.

And how does it not stop at one of these wonderful fragrances created by Jean Paul Guerlain - "Nahema". This composition is dedicated to the rose, which was embodied for Guerlain, who has a poetic gift, in the guise of a beautiful woman - Catherine Deneuve... And the story itself begins from the "Thousand and One Nights", from the East - oriental poetic legends and fairy tales. And the story is as follows - a beautiful young man came to woo two sisters. For a long time he was fascinated looking at one or the other, and could not choose which of them is closer to his heart - the wild Naema or the soft and affectionate Maena. The young man thought for a long time, and finally decided - Maena. Yes, he chose Maenu, but he could not forget Naemu. And why did the genius Jean Paul choose this fabulous story for his fragrance. Probably in order to emphasize the duality of female nature, which combines passion and tenderness, challenge and humility. The aroma captivates from the first sounds of blue hyacinth, exciting and heady, and the rose here performs an aria and is shaded with ylang-ylang and peach, the finale is woody notes, vanilla and tonka bean. The perfume bottle also continues the story of a fairytale poem - its restrained clean lines speak of one thing, and the cap in the style of a champagne cork speaks of another - one whose character is sparkling, exciting and heady.

Guerlain, inspired by a poetic tale, created this fragrance in 1979.
And our story, dedicated to the rose and those who create fragrant aromas and take us to their magical world, will end with the words of the Russian perfumer Konstantin Verigin: “Let us glorify with gratitude those who, by the power of their talent, take us into the world of light, joy and fairy tales ...” ...
