Peter Lindbergh is another of the photographers who were born in the 30s and 40s of the twentieth century and actively worked in the 70s, 80s and, of course, the 90s with models that are almost legendary today. Photographers who, if not at the origins, then at the very beginning of the development of fashion photography, are among those photographers whose work today serves as an example and model. Peter Lindbergh is a black and white photography guru and, as critics call him, a singer of glamor.

Peter Lindberg (Peter Brodbeck) was born on November 23, 1944 in the Polish city of Leszno, at that time this city was part of Germany. And he spent his childhood in the city of Duisburg (West Germany) - this is the Ruhr district, the most industrial region of Germany, and the industrial architecture of his hometown: factories, factories, will also influence his future work.

At the age of 18, Peter Lindbergh moved to Switzerland, but then returned to Berlin, where he attended evening courses at the Academy of Arts. He studied to be an artist and his idol was Vincent Van Gogh. It is following his example that Peter Lindbergh makes his trip to Arles by hitchhiking. He then travels to Spain and Morocco. His journey will last two years, and then, returning to Germany, he will continue his study of painting at the College of Art in Krefeld.

Peter Lindbergh will hold the first exhibition of his works while still a student in 1969, but already in 1971 he will be interested in another art form - photography. Peter Lindbergh becomes an assistant photographer to Hans Lux and he works for him for two years after completing a photography course. And since 1973 he will work independently, making photographs for advertising. He will become a famous photographer after the publication of a series of his works in the magazine Stern.

In 1978, Peter Lindbergh moved to Paris and began collaborating with such famous magazines as Vogue, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Allure and Rolling Stone. In Paris, he lives with his first wife, Astrid, they have three children.

Since 1988, Peter Lindbergh begins his highly successful collaboration with Anna Wintour and Vogue magazine. America.

He also worked for the famous Pirelli calendar in 1996 and 2002. In his photographs you can see such models as Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Tatiana Patitz, Naomi Campbell... But not only models, many stars of show business also posed for him: Madonna, Brad Pitt, Tina Turner.

He published his first book "Ten Women" - black and white photographs of the ten best models of the time - he published in 1996. Also widely known is his second book, "Peter Lindbergh: Images of Women", published by him in 1997, which contains the best works of the author from the mid-80s to the mid-90s.

In addition to photography, Peter Lindbergh is also involved in filmmaking, as his film Inner Voices (1999) was voted Best Documentary at the 2000 Toronto International Film Festival.

In 1995 and 1997, Peter Lindbergh won Best Photographer at the International Fashion Industry Awards. He is also an honorary member of the Art Directors and Designers Club and holds the title of Chevalier of Arts and Letters of France. And in October 1996, in Berlin, he was awarded the Raymond Lowy Foundation Prize, one of the most prestigious design awards.
