GUM, TSUM. State department store. Central department store. Shops are a legacy of the Soviet era. This fall, Minsk GUM celebrates its anniversary. On November 5 he will be 60 years old. However, GUM appeared in Minsk back in May 1934, it was located in the building of the former Polish Bank, which was located at the intersection of the current Independence Avenue and Komsomolskaya Street. But during the war it was destroyed. The post-war GUM building received its first buyers in 1951. The author of the GUM project was the architect Roman Mikhailovich Gegart. The heyday of the Minsk GUM is the 1960-70s of the XX century. In 1969, GUM was one of the first Soviet stores to introduce the self-service method. He was one of the first in the city to organize a school-shop for personnel training.

It is better not to go to GUM today. No, you can and even need to enter it, but only if you are interested in porcelain, rings, paintings, notebooks, rulers, the architecture of the building itself, its marble central staircase, lottery tickets, indoor plants or something else, but just not clothes ... I beg you, not the clothes! Since if you are a girl and you need clothes, then there is no foot in GUM. Save your nerves. The clothes that are presented in GUM were selected according to the principle "and I am a gray mouse", well, or "teacher". These will definitely be jackets from the USSR and the same dress styles. Take care of your nerves!

But in honor of its sixtieth anniversary, GUM nevertheless pleased the citizens of Minsk. Mannequins appeared on the windows of GUM, clearly demonstrating the evolution of fashion, from the 1950s to the 2000s. Walking along the avenue along the GUM shop windows, you can see floral dresses from the 50s, bright and warm dresses from the 60s, the style of the "Bremen Town Musicians" from the 70s (oh, these hats with wide brim!), Pioneers of the 80s, the famous leggings and crimson jackets of the 90s, and of the 2000s - trousers, sweaters, jeans ... These windows amuse passers-by, passers-by stop and examine. It is also pleasing that in these showcases not only outfits, but also the entourage are selected: the 90s, 90s are scales, scores, cassette recorders, the 80s are the "Time" program, the 70s are guitars, a radio tape recorder, 60 -s - the first television sets, photographs of the Beatles, the 50s - grandmother's chest, a round table with a tablecloth, a doll. These showcases are interesting to see! The time machine works, and there, in the glass windows, everyone can see the era of their youth.
