On Friday, May 4, the National Beauty Contest “Miss Belarus-2012” finally ended in Minsk. Beauty contests "Miss Belarus" have been held in Belarus since 1998 and every 2 years. The winner of the contest gets the right to represent Belarus at the international beauty contest "Miss World".

This year the Miss Belarus contest was quite extended. Castings took place back in September 2011. More than a thousand girls came to them, of which 192 girls were selected by the jury. Then their number was reduced to 42, and 28 participants reached the semifinals. In the final, 10 girls remained. Before the final show, which took place on May 4, there was a series of semi-final shows, which were also shown by the ONT TV channel, one of the organizers of the project. They selected "Miss Top Model" Natalia Brishten, "Miss Sport" Victoria Shavel, "Miss Talent" Olga Nikiforova and "Miss Photo" Yulia Skalkovich. Tatiana Davydenko received the audience awards and voices in the category "Miss People's Choice". The title "Miss Friendship" by the decision of the girls themselves is Inna Konovalova, and "Miss Charity" was Maria Velichko.

The jury of the final competition, which pleased us, was not only singers and actors, but also representatives of the "world of fashion" - heads of modeling agencies Sergei Nagorny and Tamara Goncharova, designer Ivan Aiplatov, organizer of the Polish national beauty contest, organizer of the first Belarusian beauty contest in 1998 and traditionally the winner of the last competition - Miss Belarus-2010 Lyudmila Yakimovich... The members of the jury made their decision instantly, almost immediately after the completion of the last appearance of the participants in evening dresses, well, "to think" since September 2011 there was plenty of time.

In addition to appearing in evening dresses, the participants of the competition also traditionally went on stage in swimsuits, some of which were fastened for some unknown reason with ornaments made of ridiculous balloons and national costumes. National costumes for the participants of the contest "Miss Belarus-2012" were designed this year Belarusian designer Yulia Latushkina and, as journalists noted, the collection turned out to be "castle", "princely", and some dresses were even very successful. The outfits of Yulia Latushkina are light dresses of white, red (the color of the Belarusian ornament, without the usual patterns of which this time they were finally able to do), black and gold. Over the dresses - white fur coats or fur sleeveless jackets. “In general, in dresses from Yulia, each of the participants of the competition certainly could feel like a real princess” - I already wanted to write, looking at several successful images, but then I saw the rest, well, not all the girls were lucky ...

The participants of the competition had to demonstrate both the ridiculous and sometimes overly bright collection of clothes "Flowers". And the ONT TV channel itself clearly decided to arrange a presentation of all its other projects from the final show "Miss Belarus", since all the top leaders of the republic became spectators of the final, but for some reason more often not with their wives, but with young and young girls around themselves. Thus, numerous musical pauses of the competition filled the performances of the participants in the music projects of the ONT TV channel "Academy of Talents" and "I Sing!"

As a result, Anastasia Pogranichnaya from Zhodino received the title “Second Vice-Miss Belarus”, Victoria Shavel became “First Vice-Miss”. And the cherished crown and title Yulia Skalkovich received Miss Belarus 2012 from the village of Kleiniki, Brest region, now her parents and younger sister live in Brest (by the way, Yulia is the second girl, originally from the village of Kleiniki, who became "Miss Belarus", the first was Olga Nevdakh, who received this title in 2002).Julia is a student of the Belarusian National Technical University, a future architect. Her mother is a primary school teacher, her father is a deputy director in a private company.

Yulia Skalkovich's victory came as a surprise. Indeed, in the top three, many of the Belarusians following the competition expected to see both Tatiana Davydenko (Miss Audience Choice) and charming Olga Nikiforova from Minsk, but the three finalists turned out to be completely unpredictable.
