The 10th anniversary season of Belarus Fashion Week was held in Minsk from 21 to 25 October. Harydavets & Efremova

The authors of the collection are designers Tamara Goridovets and Tatyana Efremova. The Harydavets & Efremova brand is Vitebsk. To a certain extent, Vitebsk, a city that is considered the cultural capital of Belarus, can also be spoken of as the second fashionable capital after Minsk. There are quite objective reasons for the development of fashion in Vitebsk. The city has a good school for training clothing designers - Vitebsk State Technological University.

The collection of designers Tamara Goridovets and Tatyana Efremova turned out to be truly spring - filled with lightness, youth and a riot of colors. As one of the visitors of the show noted, it's not even about the styles, but about where they (the designers) took these fabrics - iridescent, bright and fresh in their color.

However, as far as color is concerned, the colors, although they were bright and saturated, are still basic - mostly classic combinations of red and white. And these combinations, as you know, always look advantageous.

DAVIDOVA

Another brand from Vitebsk.

Designer Marina Davydova is quite mature, in her work, and an experienced designer. Collections from Marina Davydova took part in the Belarusian Fashion Week more than once, and were also demonstrated in the framework of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia (Moscow), CPD International Exhibition (Dusseldorf).

In the designer's spring-summer collection, we can see the automotive theme. Marina Davydova chose stylized images of license plates and engines as a decoration for clothes.

You may not even immediately notice them, or even realize that this is a collection of automotive themes. Indeed, in general, the collection is quite feminine in its silhouettes. However, take a closer look and you will see that this is a collection of clothes for an active and confident woman. For a female motorist.

The necks and edges of the products are also processed in the form of rounded car parts. For example, the neckline of some dresses may well resemble the circumference of a steering wheel.

The fabrics are very different. From warm wool for early spring to lighter viscose and cotton.

BOITSIK

Designer Irina Boitik from Minsk, as well as Marina Davydova, an experienced designer, a regular participant in Belarus Fashion Week.

In her collection for the spring-summer 2016 season, Irina Boitik remained true to her own style - we saw monochromatic things that were pure in color. Colors (and the color in Irina Boitk's work is the main thing) - pink, many shades of naked, milky, berry shades of red. Collection fabrics - natural wool, cotton, linen, viscose, cambric.

In addition to clothes from Irina, as part of the show of the collection of the BOITSIK brand, one could also see shoes from the Sutoria studio and bags from the Max Mironov brand.

KUCHERENKO

Brand designer Olga Kucherenko-Laburdova (Minsk).However, Vitebsk State Technological University became the school of design for Olga. The name of the collection is “Circle Condition”.

Olga Kucherenko's collections are always an experiment and creativity. The collection of the spring-summer 2016 season was no exception. The show of the collection "Condition of the Circle" became not just a show of fashionable clothes, but a kind of mini-performance. The purpose of this action is to show the dark and light sides of a person.

Not all clothes on the runway will be wearable. However, according to the designer himself, she and her team went for it deliberately - they worked with color, symbols, texture. And the main thing for them was to convey a certain idea, which everyone, which is not excluded, can interpret in their own way.

However, the things themselves can also be worn - for example, separately. So, as the work of Olga Kucherenko shows, clothes on the catwalk can be art, but at the same time, it is quite possible to be sold if the catwalk image of the model is disassembled in parts.

Therefore, if we are to adhere to the opinion that design comes from abstract art, then the Circle Condition collection is just about that. Namely about fashion as art.

In addition to the clothes themselves, the collection was also accompanied by a painting showing human vices and a poem. The models' make-up and floral decorations - “headbands”, as the designer herself called them, were interesting.

Kardash

The theme of the spring-summer collection from designer Olga Kardash was the theme of freedom, as movement forward and the absence of boundaries. All items from the designer's new collection were adorned with images of a stork. The bird is majestic, with a wide wingspan, and definitely freedom-loving. And also the stork bird (busel, this is how the name of this bird is translated into Belarusian) is, of course, a symbol of Belarus. The land under white wings, they say about Belarus, meaning the wings of a stork.

By the way, the items themselves from the new collection of the Kardash brand, even before the show, managed to become a hit on the Belarusian Instagram. Dresses, skirts and sweatshirts were tried on by Belarusian gymnast Melita Stanyuta, TV presenter Anna Bond, photographer Kanaplev + Leydik.

There is practically no black in the collection. The colors are light, like the image of the stork bird itself - gray and white, shades of brown and beige. The only decor on the clothes is a stork embroidery made with silk threads.
