Clothes of Belarusian designers at Central Fashion Market

On March 4, Minsk hosted the fourth Central Fashion Market, organized by Anna Tsemkalo, fashion designer My happy dress.

Another marketplace, another opportunity for designers to sell their creations, and to meet face to face with the public. Held Central Fashion Market at the Moulin Rouge Show from 11 am to 7 pm.

The Central Fashion Market featured about 80 Belarusian designers, both clothes and accessories. Among the fashion designers are Marina Davydova, Yulia Leshkevich, Anastasia Svidritskaya, Tatiana Marynich and many others. Accessory designers include Alexandra Yakutovich, EZcase, Baboon, Anastasia Aksenova.

The market was held in spring and not only because its organizers decided so, but also because of the weather and the bright sun, which made Minsk residents happy this Sunday.

However, Belarusian markets have one problem - the public. And the resulting problem number two is the room. I made the right decision by arriving early, because when I was leaving, the number of visitors increased threefold, and created that very unpleasant crowd in which nothing could be seen. I even thought that if someone organizes a Fashion Market at the Palace of the Republic, visitors will still fill all the free space. No, perhaps there is also the fact that the entrance is free. However, the fee of 5.000 Belarusian rubles (well, yes, to some extent, very symbolic) for a market organized by Vika Naumova in February, she also did not decide anything, there were still an abundance of visitors. And to be honest, it's good. And, frankly, I am completely against admission fees to such events, in the end - after all, visitors come not only to look, they also have the opportunity to buy designer things that are by no means cheap. The market is not a show, it has much more of the market in it. So the interest of the public is good, the crowd is bad, and it turns out that the room should be larger.

There is one more peculiarity - clothes from Belarusian designers look much better on the catwalk than on hangers. Sometimes it is completely too designer and too for the catwalk, but in no way fits the phrase “I'll go to work in this”. Actually, when writing articles on the topic of Belarusian fashion, I adhere to the rule: “look up close, but from afar”. I want it to be interesting, comfortable, applicable, the very ready-made dress that can be worn. I want to praise those who organize such events, and they really are getting better and more interesting every time. And among the things, yes, there are interesting ones. But. But I came from the street.

I came and I am sincerely looking for something comfortable, without unnecessary frills, without oddities, I am looking for something that will interest you even on the hanger, without any fittings there, will catch your eye, but I do not find it. I see strange jackets, skirts and dresses, often incomprehensible baggy silhouettes, and sometimes strange bows and colors, sometimes I see fashion, and even, rather, the embodiment of some ideas, but I do not see what can be worn. My friend is far from fashion, and from the art world in general, having seen some creations of our designers, she said only one thing "what nonsense they sew." And she won't wear that. Market - yes, here we buy designer clothes, but these clothes must be ready-made dresses, we must imagine them on ourselves in everyday life, we must want to wear them.

You know Belarusian fashion in a way it is similar to English (for some reason, unexpected combinations of bright colors from the fall-winter 2012 collections, although there is more gray in Belarusian fashion), but the oddities are the same. And that's good for art, but bad for practical use.

However, let's not talk about sad things.I really liked the show (just the show, we will not talk about the practicality of the things themselves from this collection, for a simple reason, the collection itself is presented as part of the show, and not exclusively for sale) collections from L'UNION (designers Olga Kardash, Katarina Gladkova and Anna Shcholko), which they presented together with the Neogothic collection of accessories from Killtoday. Nice, dignified. The show was performed to the accompaniment of opera arias in live performance of the singer with a strong enough voice. The Gothic spirit was conveyed at its best.

I liked the felt boots (Valenki-Lo) from Laura Pavlova, handmade felt boots, painted, in the cold and snowy winter, by the way, very comfortable shoes. But if it had not been for the booklets handed out, I would not have noticed them, felt boots stood on the side against the wall and were represented by completely uninteresting and simple models ...

I liked the men's Gotti coats - they are really understandable, well-tailored, they are attractive and on hangers, so you don't need to measure them in order to appreciate them, because at first glance it is clear that it can be worn.

I liked, by the way, also very strange, but really original toys: cats and bunnies with angel wings from Olga Zaretskaya. And I bought a designer postcard for March 8, postcards could also be purchased at the Central Fashion Market.

The Central Fashion Market also hosted a show of children's clothing from Julia Nefertari and a practical master class "Five steps to admiration" from the image designer, as well as fashion designer Olga Radetskaya and stylist Inna Lipkovich.
